Day 3 of the Main Event at the 2018 WSOP International Circuit Holland Casino Rotterdam will start with 31 players left in the field at 1 p.m. The chip leader at the start of the penultimate day of the Main Event is Dutch poker player Sidney Steinmann. Steinmann ended Day 1b close to the top of the leaderboard and is now the overall chip leader in the tournament. He bagged a stack of 498,500 for Day 3 of the Main Event, but he is closely followed by Govert Metaal (470,000) and Jay Oosterbaan (450,000).

A total of 21 players will end up in the money. The 21st place finisher will take home €2,888 and the winner will go home with an impressive €67,766 and of course a piece of WSOP Circuit Jewellery. Plenty of players still have the chance to make a run for it. Brian Kamphorst (283,000), Tobias Peters (255,000), Day 1a chip leader Marco Rodrigues (209,000), High Roller runner-up Kevin Paque (132,000), and Sander van Wesemael (88,000) are all still in the tournament and are hopeful to take down the grand prize.

Valentin Vornicu, the current record holder with the most WSOP Circuit rings, was eliminated on the second day of the tournament and is not going to win his 13th ring in the Rotterdam Main Event.

The tournament will kick off at 1 p.m. local time and the plan is to either play eight one-hour levels or play down to a final table. PokerNews will be in Holland Casino Rotterdam to deliver written coverage of the Main Event for the entire duration of the tournament.

Chupin Doubles Up Right Away

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Valeriy Chupin started the day as one of the short stacks, but he's right in the middle of the pack after doubling up in one of the first hands of the day. Chupin got everything in the middle with {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and he was called by Marco Rodrigues holding {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and Chupin doubled up to start the day well.

Van Wesemael Eliminates Tekle Mariam

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Sander van Wesemael
Sander van Wesemael

Sander van Wesemael doubled up through Henok Tekle Mariam, leaving him behind with just 13,000. Van Wesemael started the day with 88,000 and was up to 220,000 after the hand. In the next hand, it was Majid Bozakraft who raised from late position to 10,500 and Sander van Wesemael three-bet from one seat over to 28,000. Tekle Mariam moved all in for his last 13,000 and Bozakraft called Van Wesemael's three-bet.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Bozakraft check-called a 15,000 bet from Van Wesemael. The turn was the {A-Spades} and Bozakraft check-called another bet of 15,000 from Van Wesemael. The {9-Spades} river was added to the board and Bozakraft checked to Van Wesemael who bet a bit bigger this time. He put 42,000 in the middle and Bozakraft folded after three minutes.

Van Wesemael already picked up the side pot and after he showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} he also picked up the main pot against Tekle Mariam's {K-}{Q-}.

Marco Rodrigues

Marco Rodrigues was all in and at risk against Valeriy Chupin. Chupin had the better hand holding {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Rodrigues had to come from behind with {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Rodrigues gained a ton of outs on the {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs} run out but the {2-Diamonds} river was a brick and Rodrigues was eliminated from the tournament.
