Jackson Hits the Rail as Part of the Bubble

Level 17 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

The action folded around to David Jackson on the button who ripped all in for around 100,000. AJ Kelsall gave it some thought from the small blind and made the call to put Jackson at risk.

AJ Kelsall: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
David Jackson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Jackson was in a dominating position and stayed that way through the {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, despite Kelsall picking up a straight draw. However, the {j-Spades} on the turn gave Kelsall a pair of jacks and the best hand. The {3-Diamonds} completed the board and Jackson was eliminated.

A flurry of eliminations happened at the same time and the tournament dealers were instructed to stop dealing after the current hand. When all hands were completed, it was determined that only 159 players remained and everyone was now in the money.

Drobes Hits Trips on River to Bust Magnuson

Level 17 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Action was picked up on the turn on a board that read {10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Scott Drobes, in the big blind, was considering an all in shove from Daniel Magnuson, who had led with a shove from the small blind. The pot was about 150,000 and the shove was for about 200,000, Drobes had Magnuson covered.

Drobes contemplated the shove and held the cards in his hands looking like he was leaning towards a fold. After a few moments he said "call" out loud and waited a moment to turn over his cards. Magnuson turned his over first the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} while Drobes shook his head and turned over the {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

But Magnuson's tournament would be cruelly ended in abrupt fashion as the {8-Hearts} peeled off of the river to make river trips for Drobes.

"That's not fair!" said Drobes as he saw the decent stack of Magnuson heading into his own.

O'Neal Bows Out

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

William O'Neal open-shipped all in for 96,000 in middle position and the action folded all the way around to Scott Born in the big blind. Born made the call after looking down at his cards to put O'Neal at risk.

Scott Born: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
William O'Neal: {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-}{10-}{3-} and Born took a commanding lead with his pair of aces. The {j-} on the turn gave O'Neal two straight draws but the {8-} on the river bricked off to send him to the payout desk.

Brad Albrinck
Brad Albrinck

Action was picked up on the turn. The board read {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Brad Albrinck had made a bet and was raised to what looked like 100,000 by Dwayne Pelham. Albrinck waited a few moments and called the raise.

The two players went to the river which was the {5-Spades} to bring a third spade to the board. Pelham then made a 6,000 min bet which Albrinck tossed in for the call. Pelham showed the {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for two pair while Albrinck turned over the winning hand with the {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} to add chips to his growing stack.

Dustin Holladay: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Marius Conan: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Dorsey Sends Chips to Hawkins

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

On a board that read {5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} Maurice Hawkins bet 75,000 into a pot of about 90,000. Travis Dorsey thought it over for a while and eventually made the call after about 30 seconds. Hawkins tabled the {9-Hearts}{8-Spades} which was good enough to take the pot as Dorsey mucked.

"You don't like folding to me do you?" Hawkins said to Dorsey as he collected the pot.

Daniels Gets Value With Boat

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Shawn Daniels made a river bet of about 62,000 on a board that read {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Robert Hankins was the player on the other end making the decision of whether or not to call. After about 20 seconds he did put the stack of chips in the middle for a call.

Daniels quickly tabled the {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for the full boat and Hankins mucked his hand.
