The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana in the Louisville area to live report the $1,700 Main Event; however, that is just one of more than a dozen gold ring events that have taken place over the past week. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

For example, in Event #8: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo, 111 entrants created a $36,629 prize pool that was paid out to the top 17 players. Among those to cash but fall shy of making the final table were Zach Hench (10th - $722), Kevin Sherrill (13th - $626), John Rose (16th - $560), and Lisa Potter (17th - $560).

Retiree Robert Gray of Atlanta, Georgia wound up the victor, which was good for $10,296 in prize money and his first gold ring.

"There was no point that I thought I was going to win, not until the last hand." he said.
