Mark Hamilton Victorious in Event #6: $400 NLH for First Ring

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

PokerNews is in town to live report both the Main Event and High Roller here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Bicycle Casino, but those are just two of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

Event #6: $400 No-Limit Hold’em drew a small field of 53 runners, which meant a $17,490 prize pool was on tap for the final eight.

Coming out on top was 49-year-old businessman Mark Hamilton, who won it for $6,190 and his first gold ring. Originally from England but now residing in Los Angeles, the third time proved to be the charm as he’d previously finished second in two other WSOPC heads-up matches.

“This was a lot more relaxed because of the lower prize pool,” said Hamilton. “The Monster Stack was tough because I was chip leader with three left and then I lost a big flip … But this was just relaxed. The Bike is my favorite casino to play at. Most of my good cashes have been at The Bike.”

He added: “I think just playing a lot of tournaments has helped and I play a lot of heads up with friends, so that makes a difference.”

Rossitto Takes Big Pot Versus Tate

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Michael Rossitto
Michael Rossitto

With more than 60,000 already in the pot, and {2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} on the board, Ronnie Tate bet 15,000 from under the gun.

Michael Rossitto, in the cutoff, raised to 50,000, sending Tate into the tank.

Tate eventually called, but it was Rossitto's {2-Spades}{2-Hearts} which was the winner. Tate mucked, and Rossitto dragged in the 160,000-plus pot.

Cormney Doubles Through Varnell

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Tyler Cormney, in the big blind, and Craig Varnell, in the hijack, each put 5,000 in the pot on the {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop.

All of Cormney's chips went in on the {10-Clubs} turn, with Varnell making the call.

Tyler Cormney: {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Craig Varnell: {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Varnell went into the river with an open-ended straight flush draw, but was behind Cormney, who had a pair of tens and his own higher flush draw. The river fell an inconsequential {9-Spades}, and Cormney colected some much-needed chips.

Iris Angeleri
Iris Angeleri

The action was on the big blind who made it 10,000 after four players had limped in. The under the gun player called and so did Iris Angeleri from the small blind. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Angeleri moved all in for 61,500. The big blind folded and the under the gun player called.

Iris Angeleri: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Angeleri was in rough shape and the {k-Clubs} turn card left her just one card away from elimination. The {7-Hearts} fell on the river improving Angeleri to a set and giving her the full double up.
