The World Series of Poker Circuit at Harrah’s $1,700 Main Event kicks off today, with Day 1a. This is the first of two opening day flights and it is set to begin at 12:00p.m. local time.

Players will begin with 30,000 starting chips, and Day 1a is scheduled to play through 15 40-minute levels before wrapping up for the night. All players are allowed one re-entry per flight, and late registration is available up through the beginning of Level 13.

The blinds begin at 100/100, with a big blind ante kicking in at Level 2. Those blind/ante levels will go up to 2000/3000/3000 at Level 15, the last level of play on Day 1.

The ultimate prize on the line is the WSOP Circuit ring, and the right to be called the WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Main Event champion.

Today's action is the first of two Day 1 flights, with Day 1b scheduled for Friday. The survivors of Day 1a and Day 1b will come back as a combined field for Day 2 Saturday. Day 3 commences on Sunday, and the tournament will play down to a champion.

The {k-Clubs} came on the turn and the cutoff fired out 1,500. Teal called and they went to a river card {8-Spades} which was checked around and they went to a showdown.

With 6,500 already in the pot Will James check-called a bet of 2,200 on a board reading {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. The {4-Spades} completed the board and James led out for 11,000 from the small blind. The action was on the cutoff who went into the tank before he eventually called.

Action was checked to Kellner on the {8-Clubs} turn card. He looked at one of his cards and then checked back. The {7-Diamonds} completed the board and the hijack led out for 1,000. Kellner now looked at both of his cards and put in a raise to 3,500. His opponent called and both hands were tabled.

A player raised to 300 from early position and five players called, including Jeff Whittle from the cutoff.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and the action checked to Whittle who put out a bet of 800. The player on the button raised it up to 2,800. Action folded back around to Whittle who threw 10,000 into the middle. His opponent said "you must already have the flush", and mucked his hand.

Whittle tabled {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and scooped the pot.
