The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at the Horseshoe Baltimore to live report both the $1,700 Main Event and $3,250 High Roller; however, that is just one of more than a dozen gold ring events that have taken place over the past week. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

In Event #3: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo, 51 runners created a $16,830 prize pool that was paid out to the top eight players.

In the end, 25-year-old software engineer Shizhe Zhou of Rockwell, Maryland came out on top to win the title, a $5,853 top prize, and his first gold ring. All that in his first tournament at the Horseshoe Baltimore.

Zhou, who graduated from Stevens College in New Jersey, is originally from China.
