Day 1a of the World Series of Poker Circuit $1,700 Main Event at Horseshoe Baltimore is in the books with 57:43 remaining in Level 16. A total of 141 entry slips were sold for the first flight but only 23 players managed to find a bag at the end of the night.

Leading the Day 1a pack is two-time ring winner Ryan Jones with an impressive stack of 467,000, more than fifteen times the starting stack. Jones already has two Circuit Main Event titles under his belt. He took down the Harrah’s Cherokee Main Event of the 2014/2015 Circuit season and the Rio Las Vegas Circuit Main Event of the 2016/2017 season. He will be looking to win another title.

Jones is followed by three-time ring winner Peter Vitantonio with 307,500. Joseph Malebranche rounds up the top three with 274,000.

Other big names who bagged include bracelet winner and two-time Circuit ring winner Michael Wang with 226,500. Wang claimed both of his Circuit rings this series. He won Event #5: $400 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed and Event #8: $600 No-Limit Hold’em. He is also a favorite to win the Casino Champion title with his two victories and a seat into the 2020 Global Casino Championship. He will be looking to make another deep run.

Bracelet winner John Gorsuch (181,000), as well as bracelet winner and four-time Circuit ring winner Justin Liberto (147,500), and Christian Harder (92,000) also made it to Day 2.

Other notables who took a shot at the first flight but couldn’t survive the day included Tony Gregg, Steve Karp, Timothy Little, and Nicholas Verderamo. They will have the option to try their luck again on Saturday in the second and last flight of the Main Event.

Day 1b will get underway at 11 a.m. local time and the survivors of both flights will combine for Day 2 on Sunday, October 13th at noon.

Just as with Flight A, the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on the felt providing you with all the updates for Flight B so tune in then!
