Buell on the Rise

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Steve Buell opened for 7,500 and the next player clicked it to 12,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Buell and he shoved all in, inducing a fold.

Shortly after that, Buell opened under the gun and the big blind, Kevin Waller, defended. They checked the flop for a board of {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Waller bet 10,500. Buell shoved for 66,000 and Waller tank-called.

Buell: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Waller: {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Waller had some outs with a combo draw. While he improved on the {q-Clubs} river, that card also gave Buell a full house.

Jennings Out of Shells

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Greg Jennings
Greg Jennings

Greg Jennings was all in for about 20,000 in the big blind after a limp from under the gun and a shove from small blind Cory Bogert. The limper folded.

Jennings: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Bogert: {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

Things got hairy for the fours when the board read {5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades} but a {6-Hearts} didn't do it for Jennings. He offered Bogert a fist bump then headed out.

Apter's Kings Pay Off Big

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Brett Apter
Brett Apter

With about 60,000 in the pot, Brett Apter bet 34,000 in middle position. The board read {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and his opponent under the gun announced all in. Apter quickly called and showed {k-}{k-}. He was crushing {q-}{q-} and the {j-Diamonds} river was a pip lower than Apter's opponent needed. Apter covered his 120,000 or so and scooped a massive pot.

Lanzone Turns Three-Outer

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

A player under the gun opened for 7,000, Heather Alcorn made it 15,000 a couple of seats over, and big blind Tim Lanzone cold-called. The opener made it three to the flop, which checked through for a board of {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. Action checked to Alcorn and she bet 20,000. Lanzone was the only taker, bringing a {7-Spades}. Lanzone checked and faced 30,000, causing him to groan.

"Let's be honest, you have kings," he declared. "You always have kings."

However, he slid in a call and his {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} was a winner.

Hawkins Finishes Him

Level 14 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

A player in the big blind checked with {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} on the board and Maurice Hawkins quickly checked it back. The river was the {q-Spades} and the big blind led out 15,000. Hawkins set him in for about 40,000 more and the player called off moments later.

Hawkins flipped over {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and began racking up as the table was breaking.

"Quads!" he yelled. "Finish him!"

The other player flashed {a-}{9-} and mucked.

Big Dub for Lawson

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

A player under the gun bet 10,000 on a {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop, Jon Lawson made it 35,000 on his left, and another player behind folded. The bettor came back with 70,000 and Lawson immediately jammed for 107,500.

Lawson: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Under the gun: {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

It was a dream spot for Lawson, but he did have to sweat after the {9-Diamonds} turn. The river was a {9-Spades} though and he collected a large double.
