Coffman Sent to the Tank

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Michael Hartzheim checked a {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board from the big blind, and Chad Coffman bet 4,500 into a pot of 9,700 from under-the-gun.
Hartzheim check-raised all in for 24,600, and Coffman went into the tank.

"You know I have a good hand, that's what scares me," Coffman told Hartzheim after a minute. Coffman took a few more moments of deliberation before sending his hand to the muck.

The big blind bet 1,200 on the {5-Hearts} turn, and only Kim called.

The big blind bet 3,500 on the {j-Hearts} river, Kim raised all in, and the big blind, who was covered with 16,000 chips behind, folded.

Ala Aqel checked from the small blind on the {3-Clubs} turn, the big blind bet 1,200, and only Aqel called.

Aqel led out for 2,700 on the {9-Diamonds} turn, and the big blind folded, showing the {a-Hearts} as he mucked.

Patel Searching For Ring Number Three

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Neil Patel
Neil Patel

Neil Patel already has two WSOP Circuit rings under his belt coming into today's Day 1a flight here at Horseshoe Hammond, with his first coming at the 2017 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Tunica $1,675 Main Event for a $192,152 payday. He recently picked his second ring up in Tunica back in January of this year, winning Event #9: $250 No Limit Hold'em for $13,354.

In a recent hand, Patel checked a {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Spades} board from the small blind, and his lone opponent bet 1,200 into a pot of 2,000 from under the gun. Patel check-raised to 3,200, and the under-the-gun player folded. Patel raked in the pot, and already sits with double the starting stack in the early stages of Day 1a.

Schutten Barrels His Way to the Nuts

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

A player raised to 600 from the hijack, and Brek Schutten, who has final tabled the Main Event here at the WSOP Circuit Hammond stop twice in recent years, three-bet to 2,100 from the cutoff. The hijack called.

The hijack check-called a bet of 2,000 on the {6-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop, and the {j-Clubs} fell on the turn. The hijack checked again, and Schutten bet 4,500. The hijack called again.

The {q-Diamonds} hit the river, and the hijack checked a third time. Schutten bet 5,500, and the hijack tanked for a minute before making the call. Schutten tabled {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for Broadway, and the hijack flashed his {10-}{10-} briefly before mucking.

Brian Opyrchal

The small blind checked a {4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop over to Brian Opyrchal in middle position, who bet 3,300 into a pot of 4,000. The small blind called.

Both players checked the {2-Spades} turn, and the {3-Spades} fell on the river. The small blind bet 7,000, and Opyrchal, who had just 16,700 left in his stack, tanked for a minute before calling. The small blind could only muster up {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for ace-high, while Opyrchal took down the pot with {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

Fiore Finds a Double

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

In a three-bet pot with around 4,000 in the middle, Frank Fiore shoved for 9,600 from the big blind.

With the board showing {8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}, Fiore's cutoff opponent made the call.

Frank Fiore: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Cutoff: {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The turn {a-Clubs} and river {2-Diamonds} changed nothing, with Fiore's pocket jack staying ahead and earning him a double up.
