Rogowski Gets a Few Back

Level 4 : 100/200, 200 ante

Aaron Massey raised to 600 from under the gun, and Andy Rogowski said, "No gamble, no future!" before calling in the hijack. The button, as well as both blinds, came along as well.

Action checked down through a {2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} board, and the small blind tabled {k-}{j-}.

"That is very good," Massey said as he pushed his cards to the muck. Rogowski turned over the {3-Spades}, then the {5-Spades} a short time after with a smile, and everyone else mucked, shipping the small pot over to Rogowski.

Vang continued for 2,800 on the {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop, and the button called.

Vang checked the {10-Spades} turn, and the button bet 6,100. Vang called.

Both players checked the {2-Clubs} river, and Vang flipped over {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The button mucked.

PokerNews is in town to report the $1,700 Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit at Milwaukee’s Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, but that is just one of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

Event #4: $400 NLH Turbo attracted 257 runners and offered up a $84,810 prize pool to the top 39 spots. Among those to cash were Craig Trost (3rd - $8,425), Brett Reichard (4th - $6,148), Eddie Blumenthal (5th - $4,570), Andrew Robinson (6th - $3,460), Adam Goldberg (17th - $985), and Steve Buell (26th - $697).

In the end, Chicago’sJordan Helstern beat Robert Wendt in heads-up play to win the tournament for $19,019 and his first gold ring.

The heads-up battle was over quickly, after Helstern raised holding big slick and Robert Brandt three-bet jammed with an inferior ace. Helstern snap-called and held on to claim victory.

“It feels really good to get the ring and close one out,” Helstern said after his victory. “I was saying 'Kobe' the whole time at the final table, and I went in with the Mamba Mentality – If you’re not winning, you’re losing.”

Calvo's Queens Quell Ploof

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante

Matthew Ploof limped in from under the gun, and Dave Grandin raised to 900 from the cutoff. Jim Calvo called in the big blind, and Ploof three-bet to 2,800. Both Grandin and Calvo called.

Calvo led out for 5,100 on the {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop, and Ploof jammed for 17,200. Grandin folded, and Calvo spent a few moments in the tank before making the call.

Matthew Ploof: {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Jim Calvo: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

"I like his hand," Rob Wazwaz said while gesturing toward Ploof's pair and gutshot.

The {q-Clubs} turn left Ploof searching for a six to survive, but the {a-Hearts} river sent Calvo the pot.

"F*** yeah! That was not an easy call!" a jubliant Calvo exclaimed after the hand.

Cheryl Choon raised to 800 from early position, and was called by Gerald Heath next to act, George Dietz in the small blind, and Roland Israelashvili in the big blind.

Jeremy Pekarek
Jeremy Pekarek

John Reading checked a {q-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop from the cutoff, and Jeremy Pekarek bet 1,600 from the button. Reading called.

Both players checked the {a-Clubs} turn, and Reading bet 4,000 when the {8-Spades} fell on the river. Pekarek didn't look thrilled, but made the call after just a few seconds.

Reading tabled {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a rivered two pair, but Pekarek had that beat with his {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}, and took down the pot.

Israelashvili Can't Win a Flip Against Heath

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Gerald Heath
Gerald Heath

Gerald Heath had 9,900 out in front of him on the button, and was contemplating a shove for 24,300 from Roland Israelashvili in the hijack. Heath eventually committed calling chips.

Roland Israelashvili: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Gerald Heath: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Heath found a host of new outs on a {10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, picking up a gutshot and a flush draw. The {a-Spades} turn left Israelashvili with a single out to survive, but the {4-Diamonds} river gave Heath the nuts and the elimination.
