Leikkonen Gets Lucky to Double

Level 17 : 175,000/350,000, 45,000 ante

Markus Leikkonen raised on the button, and Christian Rudolph defended his big blind to see a flop of {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} come down. Rudolph checked to Leikkonen, who continued for 300,000. Rudolph raised to 1,500,000 and change, and Leikkonen moved all in.

Rudolph quickly called with {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for top two pair, and Leikkonen was in rough shape with {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. The {6-Clubs} on the turn gave him some extra outs, but they weren't needed, ans the {q-Spades} spiked on the river to give Leikkonen an unlikely double up.

Markus Leikkonen, who started the final table as the short stack, is now second in chips after that pot.

Rudolph Doubles Through Filatov

Level 18 : 200,000/400,000, 50,000 ante

Anatoly Filatov raised it up to 800,000, and Christian Rudolph moved all in for 3,600,000 and change. Filatov called with {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, and it was flipping against the {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} of Rudolph. The flop of {j-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} shot Rudolph into the lead, and they improved with a king on the turn.

Filatov would win with a six and a six only, but the {8-Diamonds} came instead. Rudolph doubles up right before the second break of the day.

Pedro Garagnani Eliminated in 5th Place ($421,907)

Level 18 : 200,000/400,000, 50,000 ante

Pedro Garagnani raised to 2,400,000, leaving behind just a few big blinds, but from the big blind, chip leader Anatoly Filatov had woken up with {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. He set Garagnani all in, and he called with pocket eights.

The board came down {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, and FIlatov made an unneeded set on the river to secure yet another knockout.

Christian Rudolph Eliminated in 4th Place ($547,145)

Christian Rudolph

Christian Rudolph raised to 3,500,000 under the gun, and next to act, Marius Gierse moved all in for 6,700,000. Rudolph would call for less with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, but he was in bad shape against the {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} of Gierse. The flop of {k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} gave Gierse top set, and all but ended the hand. A queen on the turn officially did that, and the German high roller will have to settle for $547,145.

Just three players remain now!

Gierse Doubles Through Filatov

Level 19 : 250,000/500,000, 60,000 ante

Anatoly Filatov had just taken a big pot off of Marius Gierse with a check raise bluff on the river, but it didn't take Gierse very long to get those chips back. On the very next hand, Filatov would move all in in the small blind with {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, and Gierse called him with a dominating {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

The flop of {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} brought plenty of action, pairing Gierse up, but also giving Filatov straight and flush draw outs. The {9-Spades} turn changed nothing, and the {2-Spades} on the river was too little too late for Filatov.

Markus Leikkonen Eliminated in 3rd Place ($709,560)

Level 20 : 300,000/600,000, 75,000 ante

Anatoly Filatov raised to 1,200,000, and Marius Gierse called in the small blind. From the big blind, Markus Leikkonen moved all in for about 11,000,000 in chips. Filatov folded, but Gierse called for over half his stack with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

He was dominating the {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} shown by Leikkonen, and the flop of {j-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} changed nothing. The {9-Spades} on the turn gave Gierse a set, and officially ended the hand.

Leikkonen will have to settle for $709,560, and just like that, we are heads up!
