Cohen Chips Up With Aces

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Tom Cohen
Tom Cohen

Tom Cohen opened to 170,000 with the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} and Ruslan Volkov called in the small blind with the {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}. The {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop was checked by Volkov and he then called a bet worth 255,000 by Cohen.

After the {8-Clubs} turn, Volkov checked and Cohen checked it back for them to see the {7-Clubs} river for free. Volkov checked once more and Cohen bet 725,000 into a pot of one million. No snap-call followed as Volkov mulled it over for quite some time before mucking his cards face-up for Cohen to see.

Mulaj Gets Some Back; Lalinovci Keeps Pounding

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Rama Mulaj raised to 175,000 with the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} on the button and Lukas Zaskodny defended out of the big blind with the {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. On the {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop, Zaskodny checked and Mulaj bet 225,000 to send his opponent into a brief tank. Zaskodny stared down his opponent for a while and folded.

Nedeljko Todorovic then raised to 175,000 with the {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Besnik Lalinovci three-bet to 375,000 with {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} on the button. Todorovic came along to the {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop and Todorovic checked, Lalinovci continued for 475,000 to get the job done.

Flush over Flush Dents Ta's Stack

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Action folded around to the blinds where Luc Ta completed holding {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Nedeljko Todorovic checked with {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

There was no further action until the turn with the board reading {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} Ta bet the 100,000 minimum which was called by Todorovic.

The fireworks started on the river as the {8-Diamonds} was put on the felt by the dealer. Ta bet 375,000 and was clicked back by Todorovic to the tune of 855,000. Ta made a quick call and was disappointed to find the Slovenian's king-high flush was better than his flush to the queen.

Volkov Loses a Bunch

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Ruslan Volkov raised to 180,000 with the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Luc Ta three-bet to 625,000 with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} in the cutoff. Nedeljko Todorovic gave it some thought in the blinds with the {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} but folded and Volkov also sent his cards into the muck as well.

The next hand featured a button raise by Tom Cohen with the {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Volkov defended the big blind with the {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. On the {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} flop, Volkov check-called for 275,000 and the {k-Clubs} followed on the turn. Volkov checked once more and Cohen bet 625,000 for nearly one third of Volkov's stack, sending his opponent into the tank.

Cohen Continues to Build Stack

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Luc Ta holding {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} UTG +1 raised to 175,000 and was called by Tom Cohen {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} in the highjack and Besnik Lalinovci {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} in the big blind.

An action flop of {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} allowed Ta to continue for 275,000 which was called by Cohen disguising his set, however Lalinovci folded his hqnd.

The {2-Hearts} prompted a check by Ta which invited Cohen to bet 725,000. After careful consideration Ta made a strong laydown to allow Cohen to rake in the pot.

Alkan Doubles Through Ta

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Volkan Alkan
Volkan Alkan

Down to the final 365,000, Volkan Alkan moved all-in with the blind and big blind ante upcoming and was called by Luc Ta in the big blind.

Volkan Alkan: {k-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Luc Ta: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The one overcard struck on the {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop to improve Alkan and with one nine gone, Ta only had one out. A potential chop was possible with the {q-Clubs} turn but the {j-Diamonds} river ensured the full double for Alkan.

Lalinovci Gets Cohen to Fold

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Tom Cohen was once more involved in the action with an open raise to 175,000 holding the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Besnik Lalinovci three-bet to 400,000 with the {k-Spades}{7-Spades} in the cutoff and Cohen came along. The {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop gave Lalinovci the nut flush draw and Cohen check-called for 500,000.

Both then headed to the {10-Diamonds} turn on which Cohen checked once more. Lalinovci bet another 725,000 and Cohen reluctantly folded.

Updated Counts of the Final Eight

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Volkan Alkan preserved his short stack with a shove and then raised the button with the {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Rama Mulaj jammed for 2,500,000 with the {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} out of the big blind and Alkan gave it some thought before folding.

"Ace king," Mulaj told Alkan after the hand was over.

Lalinovci Nears Ten Million Chips

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Rama Mulaj raised to 200,000 from the small blind holding {q-Spades}{8-Spades}. Chip leader Besnik Lalinovci flicked in the call holding {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

Both players checked the flop of {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Mulaj made a delayed continuation bet of 330,000 when the {5-Clubs} fell on the turn. Lalinovci who made two-pair made a smooth call.

Mulaj continued the aggression when he bet 650,000 on the {10-Clubs} river which completed straight and flush draws. Lalinovci looked flummoxed but managed to find a call and win another huge pot.
