WSOP Circuit is Back in Marrakech, Main Event Starts at 1 PM

Three years after the last WSOP Circuit festival, the Casino de Marrakech, inside luxurious Es Saadi Resort, is hosting the prestigious tour again. Seven editions took place in the Moroccan city in the past, the first one in 2015. From the 13th of January, until the 22nd, 12 ring events were scheduled, and a total of 30 tournaments. In 2020, the 15,000 MAD Main Event (around €1,400) attracted 625 entries. Swiss player Samiyel Duzgun took home the Gold ring and a huge prize of 1,600,000 Mad (€150,000).

WSOP Circuit Marrakech started on the 13th of January.
WSOP Circuit Marrakech started on the 13th of January.

The festival already kicked off with large numbers in the Opener, Mini Main, and High Roller events. The 20,000 MAD High Roller (around €1,800) broke the record with a massive field of 393 entries. Fifty-five players won a part of the 6,838,000 MAD prize pool. That final table will take place this Thursday from 3 p.m. and the winner will collect 1,350,000 MAD (around €123,000).

The 15,000 MAD Main Event features two Day 1s: Day 1a starts this Thursday, the 19th of January at 1 p.m. local time followed by Day 1b on Friday the 20th at the same time. Each player will get 30,000 chips to begin the tournament, and play 45-minutes levels. Levels will increase to one hour each on Day 2 and the final day. Unlimited reentries are allowed during each flight up to the end of the ninth level, which also signals the end of late registration.

The Freezeout, Monsterstack, Progressive Knockout, Super High Roller, and Short-Handed Ring events will also be held through the end of the week. Each Ring event winner will be awarded a WSOP Global Casino Championship package to compete in Las Vegas and play WSOP Tournament of Champions in June 2023 (a million dollars guaranteed tournament).

There will be twelve levels of 45 minutes today with a 15-minute break every three levels. Cards will be in the air at 1 p.m. local time and a dinner break is announced at the end of Level 9 for 75 minutes. The end of the day can be expected at approximately midnight.
