Level 9 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Last weekend, Nicolas Ribeiro won a mid-stakes tournament in his hometown. He took down the BPT Bordeaux in France for €31,310.

He then decided to come to Marrakech to play this WSOPC Main Event.

Ribeiro just took some chips from Javier Tsunamy, hitting the flush with {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} on a {q-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} board.

Only 5 tables are in action while the rest of the field is in dinner break.

In a three-way pot, with around 15,000 chips in the middle, the board showed {3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Udo Hemmert bet 12,000 in the small blind. Hugues Mazerolle in the big blind called and David Foucault folded.

Hemmert mucked his cards and Mazerolle took the pot without showdown to climb to 50,000.

Already 400 Entrants

Level 8 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Day 1a is already huge with a field of 400 entrants. Unlimited Re Entries and late registration will end at the end of Level 9.

At the end of this level, half of the players will go in a one-hour dinner break. The other half will play Level 9 and be on break after.

Quignard Out, Hemmert Wins a Big One

Level 8 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Pierre-Antoine Quignard opened for 1,600 under the gun and Nicolas Plantin three-bet from the next seat to 4,000.

In the small blind, Udo Hemmert just called and Quignard shoved for 13,600. Both Plantin and Hemmert called.

On the flop {3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, Plantin bet 6,500, Hemmert check called. He faced a second bet of 16,000 on the turn {7-Clubs} and check called again. On the river {10-Spades}, Hemmert took the lead with a 23,000 bet, almost all his stack.

Plantin thought for a while before letting down his hand. Hemmert showed {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a straight and eliminated Quignard who held Aces.
