Mateusz Dziewonski Wins the WSOP Circuit Rozvadov Main Event

The third and final day of the World Series of Poker Circuit €1,650 Main Event saw the final 31 players of a 715-entry strong field return to the tables of the King's Casino in Rozvadov.

After more than 14 hours of play, Poland's Mateusz Dziewonski defeated Andrew King in heads-up play to win coveted WSOP Circuit ring and €206,927 first-place prize.

Among those to fall within the first level were Amir Mozaffarian and Roman Cieslik, while the elimination of Oleksandr Zhyrnov set up the last three tables.

Over the next half an hour, four players were sent to the rail in quick succession. Ismail Kalkan lost his fight on the short stack, and the same applied for Steven Stephan. Meanwhile, Quirin was running bad in all bigger pots and then lost a flip for his tournament life.

The bustout of Vasili Firsau was a bad beat story, as the 2015 WSOP bracelet winner and Rozvadov Circuit ring winner lost with ace-king to ace-nine. As for Süleyman Erdar, he started as one of the biggest stacks but lost a massive pot with set under set before bowing out in 19th place.

Michael Magalashvili's attempt to bluff Dziewonski off a full house on a scary board was not met with success, and the Israeli busted shortly after. Next to go was King's regular Ali Sameeian, who called all in with ace-ten only to see Zoltan Gal's ace-eight connect with the flop to reduce the field to its final two tables.

Once again it only took 30 minutes to lose five players and head into the dinner break with 11 hopefuls remaining. At that point, Thomas Erler's ace-seven failed to hold up against the king-queen of Johnny Hansen, and shortly after the hopes of Alexandar Denishev to win the WSOP Circuit were crushed in 10th place when the pocket kings of the Bulgarian were cracked by Dragoslav Timaric.

Aleksei Ivanov experienced the same fate and also had the second-best hand in no-limit hold'em cracked to join the rail in ninth place.

Tonino Schmitz started the final table of eight second in chips, but was the first to get eliminated. After a couple of unlucky spots, the German put his hopes on a flush draw and Jens Steuber called with top pair to hold up.

Dziewonski started the final table last in chips, but doubled up quickly and took over the lead after sending Timarac to the rail in seventh place. 2015 WPT National Vienna champ Zoltan Gal tangled with the lead for several levels before losing a few all-in showdowns. His last all in with ace-five suited found a caller in Hansen with ace-jack suited and the Dane faded a flush draw on the flop to bust Gal.

The German-speaking hopes of a Main Event victory in Rozvadov were destroyed by Dziewonski, who eliminated Stefan Raschbauer and Steuber and in quick succession.

Down to three players, the Pole held half of the chips in play and the final trio played aggressively throughout the short-handed battle. Hansen had to settle for third place when his ace-five suited bricked against Dziewonski's ace-nine off suit.

An expensive top pair versus trips hand restored the 2-1 lead for Dziewonski, and the Pole then called a check-raise all in after the turn with top pair. The board was reading {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and King's {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} were unable to improve against the {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs} of Dziewonski with a blank {4-Hearts} completing the board on the river.

Andrew King Eliminated in 2nd Place (€126,002)

Level 34 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante
Andrew King
Andrew King

Mateusz Dziewonski raised to 525,000 and Andrew King just flat-called to see the flop {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. King check-called a bet of 875,000 and then checked the {Q-Spades} on the turn. Dziewonski fired a second barrel for what looked like 1,500,000 and King immediately check-raised all in for 5,050,000 on top. Dziewonski tanked for quite some time and then made the call for the tournament victory.

Dziewonski: {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
King: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The {4-Hearts} on the river was a blank and a pair of kings sent King to the rail in 2nd place close to 5 a.m. in the Tuesday morning hours.

Johnny Hansen

Mateusz Dziewonski raised to 400,000 with the {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} and both players in the blinds called. Andrew King with the {J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Johnny Hansen with the {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. On the flop {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}, Dziewonski continued for 750,000 and took down the pot.

Shortly after, Johnny Hansen raised and Dziewonski then moved all in. Hansen eventually called to put himself at risk for 4,295,000 and had a kicker problem.

Hansen: {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Dziewonski: {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and the kicker played a crucial role, sending Hansen to the rail in 3rd place for a payday of €92,892.

Jens Steuber

Andrew King raised to 350,000 with the {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and Mateusz Dziewonski three-bet to 900,000 from one seat over. The action folded to Jens Steuber in the big blind and he moved all in to quickly scare off King, Dziewonski called.

Steuber: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Dziewonski: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop gave Steuber more outs with the flush draw, but the {5-Clubs} on the turn and the {4-Diamonds} river both blanked out to send the last German-speaking hope to the rail in 4th place.

Short stack Stefan Raschbauer got his stack of 1,345,000 into the middle of the table and Mateusz Dziewonski looked him up with the superior stack.

Raschbauer: {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Dziewonski: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and the Pole immediately improved. Neither the {2-Clubs} turn nor the {6-Hearts} river helped Raschbauer anymore and he headed to the rail in 5th place for a payday of €52,291.

The first two hands of the new level just saw raise and take it before Johnny Hansen raised from the button for 250,000. Zoltan Gal jammed from the big blind for around 1.6 million and Hansen called.

Gal: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Hansen: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}

On the {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, Gal picked up a flush draw. However, the Hungarian blanked out with the {7-Diamonds} turn and {Q-Spades} filling up the board.

The day is over for Dragoslav Timarac, who aggressively shoved for more than 18 big blinds {A-Clubs}{6-Spades} under the gun. Mateusz Dziewonski, woke up with {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} from late position and his hand held when the board ran out {5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

Timarac was eliminated in 7th place for €30,995, while Dziewonski is now the chip leader after being the shortest stack to begin the final table.

Tonino Schmitz Eliminated in 8th Place (€24,311)

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Tonino Schmitz
Tonino Schmitz

Tonino Schmitz raised from the small blind and Johnny Hansen called in the big blind with {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Schmitz only had {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and bet the flop {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for 100,000, receiving a call from his opponent. Both checked the {3-Hearts} turn and Schmitz bet 205,000 to get a snap-call by Hansen after the {A-Hearts} river.

Then, Jens Steuber raised to 215,000 with the {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Schmitz called with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} to see a flop of {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Steuber bet 215,000 and Schmitz called quickly to discover the {6-Clubs} on the turn. Steuber slowed down and checked, Schmitz fired hefty 1,700,000 for almost his entire stack.

Steuber moved all in after long consideration and Schmitz put in his last 60,000 behind with the flush draw. The {9-Hearts} river bricked and Schmitz was sent to the rail whereas Steuber took over the lead.

Aleksei Ivanov Eliminated in 9th Place (€19,304)

Level 29 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Aleksei Ivanov
Aleksei Ivanov

Aleksei Ivanov had shoved from under the gun and grabbed the blinds and antes only for Tonino Schmitz to steal his big blind the hand after. Then, Jens Steuber pushed from the button and Ivanov called for his last 600,000 from the small blind as player at risk.

Steuber: {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Ivanov: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The flop came {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and provided a huge sweat. Once the {A-Hearts} arrived on the turn, Ivanov was left with one out only as the {K-Clubs} would have given Steuber a flush. It was not meant to be for the Belorussian, as the {5-Clubs} river filled up the board and sent Ivanov to the rail in 9th place.

The official final table is now set and there is a short 10-minute break. In the meanwhile, the delayed live stream will be catching up with the feature table and the coverage then continues on the delay once the final table gets underway.

Alexandar Denishev Eliminated in 10th Place (€15,513)

Level 29 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Alexandar Denishev
Alexandar Denishev

Alexandar Denishev was playing quite conservatively on the feature table when compared to his earlier play in the day. Some of this may be due to the fact that he would have won the WSOP Circuit King's Casino Player of the Year Award - along with a free ticket to the $10,000 buy-in WSOP National Championship just by finishing in seventh place or better.

Unfortunately for Denishev, Lady Luck was not on his side. In a hand against Dragoslav Timarac, Denishev opened under-the-gun to 100,000 with {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and was three bet by his opponent who held {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} to 235,000. Denishev seemed to be thinking about whether to shove or just call, and opted for the former by going all-in for 1,055,000. Timarac, who has been taking his time with much smaller decisions than this one, tanked for a few minutes before calling the shove.

If Denishev opted to just call, he probably could have gotten away from the hand after the flop of {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} with the one over-card to his preflop pair. As things turned out, Timarac flopped a set, and was able to hold after Denishev's hand didn't improve when the {4-Spades} hit the turn and the {3-Diamonds} hit the river.

Meanwhile, Timarac is now getting closer to the chip-leaders and is well above the average stack after being fairly low just a blind level ago.
