Kasek Gone

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Sebatian Langrock's {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} held in a showdown of shorter stacks against the {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} of Mathias Kasek on a seven-high board. Soon after, the German however pushed in a battle of the blinds with {10-}{3-} and the player next to him called off for 10 big blinds with {K-}{Q-} to double thanks to a queen on the board.

Big stack on the table is Vadim Markushevski.

Klüpfel Loses Some

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Janathan Klüpfel, who finished ninth in the WPT National in Prague last December, was up nicely and flopped a set against Oliver Heppchen. However, the latter made a runner runner flush to stay in the tournament. Klüpfel is the second biggest stack on his table with Steven Stephan next to Heppchen just ahead of the German.

Big Stacks Battling

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Steven Stephan
Steven Stephan

Near the top of the Day 1a entrants was Germany's Steven Stephan, who has been mounting chips throughout the first three hours of Day 2, along with his table-mate Janathan Klüpfel. We caught up with one hand where the duo battled it out with about 15,000 already in the pot, Klüpfel led the action on a {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop to 9,000 and called Stephan's raise to 19,000. Klüpfel checked when the {4-Hearts} hit the turn, and folded to Stephan's bet of 32k.

The following hand Stephan was joking around with the dealer when he accidentally exposed an {A-Clubs} that should have been part of Stephan's hand. Before folding pre-flop, he smiled and told the table, "My hand is better now."

Wenkemann Shoves; Busts

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Dirk Wenkemann moved all in for 60,000 from the button and Pietro Sibione called from one seat over with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Wenkemann had {A-}{5-} and improved on the flop {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{A-Diamonds} flop, but the {J-Spades} turn and {Q-Clubs} river restored the preflop order and gave the pot to Sibione.

Paul Ciaca Bluffs To Almost Double-Up

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

About 30 minutes ago, Romania's Paul Ciaca shared that he lost three straight showdowns. More recently, however, he won a big hand when he was able to get his opponent to fold to an all-in.

The action started when the player under the gun raised to 6,000 and the player to his left calling. Ciaca, who began the hand with about 65,000 chips three bet the action to 19,600 from the cut-off. The play under the gun folded, while his other opponent called.

Both players checked on a {Q-Spades}{10-}{2-}. Ciaca bet 18,000 on the {J-Spades} turn, which his opponent called. On an unknown river card, Ciaca jammed for his remaining 22,000 chips and his opponent folded. Ciaca shared with us he had {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for a nut-flush draw on the turn which didn't complete on the river.

Details on the Wydrowski Exit

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

In the free buffet, Marcin Wydrowski was spotted and a quick chat revealed how the Pole was eliminated. It happened in the second level and on his second table of the day with pocket kings. A short stack was involved with {A-}{K-} and the table big stack had reshoved to isolate. Wydrowski snapped off but a jack hit the board to send him out.
