Ng Down a Notch . . . Then Out

The Grinder calls under the gun, and Evelyn Ng makes it 900 to go. The player in the cutoff calls, as does Mizrachi. The flop comes {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} Mizrachi checks, Evelyn bets 1,200, and the opponent in the cutoff moves in for a total of 2,000. Mizrachi folds, and Evelyn calls. Both players have A-K, but Ng's opponent has the {A-Diamonds}. A diamond {2-Diamonds} falls on the turn, and Evelyn is clipped down to under 2,000.

A couple hands later, Evelyn moves in with {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}, and gets called by a player with {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}. The {A-Hearts} falls on the turn, and Evelyn is free to go.

"Seat Open -- Table xx!!!"

We're starting to be at that stage in the tournament where we are going to hear that cry a lot around the Amazon Room (and the players' pavilion). Stacks are getting short, players are getting desperate, and tables are going to begin to break . . . quickly.

Erik Seidel Out

Erik Seidel got on the wrong side of a blind-versus-blind confrontation, when his opponent flopped a full house holding {6-Spades}{9-Spades}. Seidel bet at the pot on the turn, committing himself to the pot in the process. His opponent moved in, and Erik was pot-committed, and drawing dead.

What Goes Up . . . Must Come Down

Mark Seif has lost a couple pots and about a third of his stack in the process. The really scary thing about this fact is he still has all but a few players in the field covered two to one.

In his latest adventure, a player in middle position made it 700 to go, and Seif called. The flop was {3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Mark bet, and the player went all in for about 4,000, and Seif called with {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. The player had {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}, which held, and Mark Seif is down to 28,000.

Now That's A Good Flop

It's your classic confrontation, as Mike Sexton would say -- Ace-King versus pocket Queens. In this instance Greg Dockus had Big Slick, he and his opponent got all the money in before the flop, and these are the cards the dealer spread:

{A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

Nothing like taking the drama out of a hand. And then there was a little salt in the wound for the player whose ladies were treated so rudely -- the turn card was the {Q-Diamonds}. Sometimes the game is a bit more cruel than it needs to be.

The DevilFish Doubles Up

Actually he more than doubled up when a player in middle position made it 550 to go and the small blind raised to 2,400. DevilFish moved in from the big blind for his last 1,075 and the original raiser decided to lay down his hand. Ulliott held two live cards in {9-Clubs}{7-Spades} against his opponent's {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}, and he took the lead when the flop came {7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

His opponent didn't catch the rest of the way--in part because the player who folded said he gave up on pocket Jacks, removing two of his outs. That pot lifted DevilFish's stack to around 3,100.
