David Chiu: Short-Stack Artist

Another player who was practically down to his last couple of chips today is David Chiu. David dropped all the way to 400 chips and has since climbed to 3,600.

The secret to Chiu's success? "I never give up," said David of his impressive mini-comeback.

Kessler Returns from the Dead

Down to 1,650 at one point in the tournament, Allen Kessler has turned things around and is now sitting on 6,500 chips, giving him some extra breathing room.

His most recent push came when he made three sixes against an opponent's two pair (jacks and fours). We'll keep you up-to-date on Kessler's crafty comeback.

Marcel Luske Busts Captain Tom Franklin

Showing {3-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}, Luske bet on both fifth and sixth streets, and again on the river, in a three-way pot against Captain Tom Franklin and an unknown opponent.

Captain Tom, who was all in on fifth street, showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, while the other player in the hand held {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

At showdown, Luske turned over {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for a full house and both of his opponents mucked. Captain Tom was eliminated on the hand and Luske upped his chip count to 16,000.

Chip Reese Stacking Them Up

After winning a nice-sized pot with two pair (kings and fives), Chip Reese brought his chip count up to 7,500 and is fast approaching our current leaders.

Commonly referred to as a "pro's pro," Chip is widely regarded as one of, if not the best, all-around poker players in the history of the game.

Chip was the youngest player ever to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame (1991), and remains so today.

Tournament Update

There are currently 192 players remaining on 24 tables. There are some very intriguing matchups throughout the field, such as Humberto Brenes and Daniel Negreanu on table 43; Paul Darden and Cyndy Violette on table 39; and Mel Judah and Tony G on table 44.

Speaking of Tony G, he's fulfilled two of the three conditions necessary to complete his "quest" of playing in three events tomorrow. At last count, Tony was down to his last 2,150 chips, so he'll need to make a big turnaround to make a run at tomorrow's Seven Stud final table.
