No Help for Jesus

With the {10-Spades} versus his opponent's {4-Diamonds} on 3rd street, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson appeared to be in good shape. Ferguson led out on 3rd street and was called, then bet into his opponent all of the way down to 7th. At showdown, his opponent turned over rolled up fours to win the hand. Ferguson mucked.

Violette Chops

Cyndy Violette had two fours showing on 4th street when her opponent paired sevens on 5th. Violette called down to 7th and turned over an 8-6-5 low, which was good enough to split against her opponent's two pair.

"I Know What You've Got Every Time Baby . . . "

Scotty Nguyen just played a big pot that saw a showdown. Nguyen bet every street and his opponent called. When Scotty bet 7th street showing (X)(X){5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades}(X), his opponent, who showed (X)(X)3-J-K-T(X), pondered for a bit. Nguyen said "You're thinking of calling me with Ace-High baby?" His opponent smiled and said "You're exactly right." His opponent finally made the call and his Ace in the hole was good. Nguyen had a low only and they chopped the pot. Nguyen laughed and said "I know what you've got every time baby . . . "

The Godfather of Norway

Poker professional Thor Hansen is considered the godfather of poker in Norway. He has won two WSOP gold bracelets, one in lowball, and one in 7 card stud. He is relaxing while playing today's event, even getting a nice massage.

Hansen deserves recognition for his class and the sportsmanship he showed when he was essentially crippled in the 50K H.O.R.S.E. event last night. In a very large pot that saw the elimination of Gabe Kaplan, Hansen had rolled up threes and made a full house on the river. His opponent, Freddy Deeb, had no pair showing and 3 hearts. Hansen got into a raising war on the river with Deeb that left him with just 40K chips. Deeb had four of a kind, with 3 sixes in the hole, leaving Hansen extremely short on chips going into today's final table.

Thor was eliminated in 8th place but had the courage and stamina to "get back on the horse" and play today's event.
