Barny Boatman Eliminated

This hand occurred late in the last level.

After a flop of {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Barny Boatman is all in with {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. His opponent shows {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, and they both have top pair, top kicker.

But his opponent is freerolling on a runner-runner heart flush, and the turn card is the {J-Hearts}. Anything but a heart is a chop, while a heart would send Boatman home in one of the most frustrating ways possible.

The river card is the {2-Hearts}.

Barny Boatman is eliminated in an A-K offsuit vs. A-K offsuit situation.

Kirk Morrison Splits Big Pot

Kirk Morrison was down to around 6k in chips when he came across a juicy pot with a dangerous flop and lots of action. With three other players in the hand, one of them all-in, they each called the 3k bet on a board of {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}. When the river brought a {9-Hearts} all players cautiously checked around. The first player mucked his cards when he saw Kirk flip over {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and the next player showed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The chopped pot brought Kirk's chips up to 38k.

Jason Holbrook Eliminated

Jason Holbrook, who made quite a showing today for playing in the WSOP Main Event legally blind, has just been eliminated.

Holbrook flopped top pair against a single opponent, who happened to pick up a straight flush draw. Holbrook moved all-in and his opponent called. The turn completed his opponent's straight, and the river gave him a flush as well. It was clear as Holbrook exited, that he had earned the utmost respect from the players at his table.

J.J. Liu Expecting and Expecting to Do Well

J.J. Liu, one of the top female players in the game today, and her husband Dan Alspach are both playing today. Both of them expect to do well, and they are also expecting! Yes, J.J. and Dan are expecting their first child in August. They are both very happy and all smiles. I asked J.J. how she has been feeling since she has been playing in quite a few events. She said, "I have been feeling wonderful!" She has that expectant mother glow (even Dan is glowing) and we wish them the best, today and with their coming new addition.
