Scott Lazar Gets Knocked Down by Some Ladies

Scott Lazar limps for 200, the small blind raises to 700, and Lazar calls. The flop comes {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, the small blind bets 700, and Lazar calls. The turn card pairs the board with the {7-Clubs}, the small blind bets 1,075, Lazar raises to 4,000, and the small blind asks Lazar how much he has left. After the 4,000 bet, Lazar has another 4,000 or so left behind. The small blind just calls.

The river card is the {10-Hearts}, and both players check. The small blind shows {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and Lazar mucks.

Scott Lazar, who finished sixth in the 2005 WSOP Main Event, is down to about 4,000 in chips.

Priorities

A player at Table 208 just showed up...three hours after we started play. The reason for his tardiness? "I was betting horses," he said.

The Main Event Now Has Everyone In the Main Room

The last remaining table from the poker tent has just been moved into the Amazon Room.

It was a big change for the last table, who actually seemed to be comfortable out there by themselves in a rather peaceful atmosphere. There was a satellite going on the other side of the tent, but their area was relaxed and peaceful. Now that they're in the Amazon Room, there is much more background noise, including the cricket-like chatter of 1,500 people shuffling their chips.

No Action for Burt Boutin

2007 WSOP Bracelet Winner - Burt Boutin
Burt Boutin flopped a set of 10s on a board of {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. He fired out 1K at the pot and everyone folded. He shook his head as the dealer pushed him the pot. No one at his table wants to tangle with the 2007 WSOP bracelet winner. Boutin took down Event #7 $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha with rebuys.

Scott Lazar Doubles Up; Davood Mehrmand Avoids a Bad Beat

After a flop of {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}, Scott Lazar moves all in with {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} for a pair of queens, Davood Mehrmand folds, and one player calls with {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a pair sevens.

Davood Mehrmand claims he folded A-Q (which would have him in the lead), but he had a bad feeling because Lazar looked so strong when he pushed.

The turn card is the {2-Spades}, and the river card is the {10-Clubs}, giving Lazar the pot with two pair. (And if Mehrmand were still in the hand, he would have received a bad beat.)

Scott Lazar doubles up to about 8,500 in chips.

Darren Locke Folds A-A

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, Darren Locke bet the pot. One player raised all in to 17.5K. A second player called. Locke looked down at his A-A and tossed them into the muck. Player A showed {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Player B flipped over {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Locke ended up making the correct fold. Not too many players can get away with folding Aces, even at the main event of the WSOP. The player with a set of 8's won the pot.

Chop It Up

Chris Ferguson
Chris Ferguson
Flop: {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}

Melissa Hayden and Chris Ferguson were heads-up on the flop. Both players checked and the turn brought the {4-Clubs}. Hayden led out for 2,200 and Ferguson made the call. The river was the {5-Spades} and Hayden checked, then called a 2,500 bet from Ferguson. Hayden had {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} while Ferguson had {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. The pot was chopped as they both had the wheel, and as the pot was being chopped up Melissa asked, "Can you give me the orange chips? He's got plenty of them over there."

The orange chip values are 5,000.
