They say the great players use the time around the bubble to attack players just hanging on to make the money and build their stack. Jay Heimowitz didn't try to fold into the money, he bet and raised the last of his chips, but after the board played out Heimowitz couldn't beat his opponent's trip eights and has been eliminated on the bubble.
Uh, turns out we're NOT in the money yet. Or, maybe, we are. They think they might've miscounted the players remaining and they're double-checking to determine if we need to bust one more player.
OK, turns out we need to bust one more player to make the money. And after returning to hand-for-hand for a few minutes the level ended and we're on a 15-minute break. So a few shortstacks will have a queasy quarter-hour to ponder their chances of survival before we resume at 7:40 p.m. PDT.
The bubble bursts and players start pushing. "Chips or Death" is the motto and two players have already fallen by the wayside. David James went out in 63rd place and Richard Tatalovich finished 62nd.
After losing much of his stack on a previous hand, Roland De Wolfe was eliminated by Tom Chambers when his low hand was counterfeited by the on the river. Chambers now has 35,000.
