Just before the break, Allen Kessler told one of our reporters a sad story. In a stud-8 hand, he was holding the absolute perfect hand on fourth street -- -- and was feeling pretty good. But more bricks than it took to build the Amazon Room later, he ended up losing the pot with absolutely nothing. He's still on an above-average 7,400, though, so he isn't taking it too badly.

Speaking to my German friend during the break, I learned of Danzer's early rise courtesy of a curious seven-card stud hand. Holding in the hole with a showing, Danzer three-bet but somehow managed to reach fourth street with three other players.
He was dealt the for two pair, but after a , and , George had turned his two pair into a disguised flush, one that was good enough to take the whole pot with no one able to muster a low.
In that same hand, Paul "Eskimo" Clark had made three queens, which possibly explains why he is down to 3,350 in chips.
