The Tank Charges Ahead

George "The Panzer" Danzer -- the moniker "Panzer" being the German word for tank -- has taken a slight hit, but remains in the race for the chip lead with 7,700.

Speaking to my German friend during the break, I learned of Danzer's early rise courtesy of a curious seven-card stud hand. Holding {4-Spades}{3-Spades} in the hole with a {4-Diamonds} showing, Danzer three-bet but somehow managed to reach fourth street with three other players.

He was dealt the {3-Clubs} for two pair, but after a {5-Spades}, {9-Spades} and {10-Spades}, George had turned his two pair into a disguised flush, one that was good enough to take the whole pot with no one able to muster a low.

In that same hand, Paul "Eskimo" Clark had made three queens, which possibly explains why he is down to 3,350 in chips.
