J.C. Tran Eliminated

Tournament pro J.C. Tran was just eliminated from the tournament in a hand that saw five-way action before the flop.

Tran opened with a raise from under the gun and was reraised by the player to his immediate left (UTG + 1). Action then folded around the table to the cutoff who put in a third raise, making it 1,600 to go. Both blinds called, as did J.C. and the UTG + 1 player who were both all in for 1,300.

The {J-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} flop prompted all three side-pot contestants to knuckle the table, each opting to see a free turn, which was the {5-Hearts}.

The big blind then led out with an 800 bet on the turn which was called by both the small blind and cutoff. The last card to fall was the {3-Hearts} and the big blind fired a second 800 bullet, forcing both of his side-pot opponents out of the pot.

The big blind took down the side pot with a pocket pair of eights and the UTG + 1 player took down the main with a pocket pair of jacks; Tran tabled {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} and was eliminated from the tournament.
