Evdakov Doubles Up

Ten minutes into the day, Nikolay Evdakov doubled up. He stood pat with a made 8-7 against David Peat, who drew one and did not connect. After the hand, Evdakov's stack increased to 130,000, and Peat fell into Death Watch territory, with 29,000.

Jim Becthel Puts the Pressure On Early

Phil Ivey raised to 5,000 from early position and got looked up by Jim Bechtel, Carlos Mortensen and Tom Dwan. Mortensen drew one card as did Bechtel. Ivey and Dwan opted for two cards. Action checked to Bechtel and he bet 17,000. No one could call and Bechtel took the pot without a showdown, climbing to over 100,000 chips.

Notes from the Field

You'd think, with over $500,000 on the line, that everyone would show up on time. You'd be wrong. Both David Benyamine and Eli Elezra were late arrivals for today's restart, getting to their seats about five minutes after play started.

Phil Ivey is already working on his first massage of the day.

And Mike Matusow is singing. When David Benyamine took his seat at Matusow's table, Matusow broke into a sing-song of: "David Benyamine, over here! When you give your chips away, please give them to me."

Today should be an interesting day.
