Mike Ngo Doubles Up
James Akenhead has the button in seat 9. Mike Ngo moves all in from under the gun for 1,080,000. Action folds to James Akenhead who moves all in over the top. Everyone else gets out of the way and the players show:

Ngo: {A-Spades} {10-Hearts}
Akenhead: {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}

It is Ngo's tournament life on the line as Akenhead has him covered. The crowd quickly comes alive as both players' legions of supporters call for "king!" or "ace!" depending on their respective camp. The flop finally comes down {A-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {4-Spades} and the crowd roars. Akenhead needs a king to eliminate Ngo. The turn is the {Q-Diamonds}, a relative blank. The river is the {6-Hearts} and again the crowd shows their respective emotions. Mike Ngo doubles through James Akenhead.

Hand #71 - Aaron Coulthard

Grant Hinkle has the button in Seat 10. Hinkle raises to 225,000 from the button. Aaron Coulthard moves all in from the small blind for about 900,000. The raise back to Hinkle is about 675,000 but he folds.

Hand #73 - Chris Ferguson

Mike Ngo has the button in Seat 4. All players fold to Theo Tran in the small blind who completes. Chris Ferguson places a chip on his cards and leans back from the table. He then puts in a raise to 175,000, enough to fold Tran and win the pot.

This hand elicited some mild applause and hollering from the crowd, the most we've seen in several hours on any hand not involving an all in that was called.

Theo Tran has the button in seat 7. Mike Ngo limps in from the cutoff seat. Chris Ferguson calls from the small blind and James Akenhead checks his option. The flop comes {9-Spades} {4-Clubs} {3-Hearts} . All players check. The turn comes the {K-Hearts}. Chris Ferguson bets 200,000 which prompts the others to fold. Chris Ferguson wins the pot.

That Thing Really Gets Around

The audience, as noted several times, is not lively at all. The tournament announcer is attempting to drum up some interest from the spectators, pitting one camp against another in terms of dedication. Someone in the audience joked that Aaron Coulthard had only one fan, but a dedicated fan. A lawn gnome was then produced from the crowd and given to the announcer, who brought it to the table to show Coulthard.

Yep, it's after midnight at the Rio, on a day that saw players resume play at about 2pm after playing for 16 hours yesterday.

Hand #75 - Grant Hinkle

Chris Ferguson has the button in seat 8. Action folds to James Akenhead in the small blind and he completes. Grant Hinkle checks his big blind option. The flop comes {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {7-Spades} and both players check. The turn comes the {J-Spades}. Akenhead checks and Hinkle slides a bet of 150,000 out. Akenhead thinks for just a bit, then confidently calls. Its the {10-Clubs} on the river. Akenhead taps the felt again and Hinkle fires a bet of 400,000. Akenhead, after about a minute or so, calls. Hinkle tables {9-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} for the straight and Akenhead mucks.

Hand #78 - Grant Hinkle

Aaron Coulthard has the button in Seat 3. James Akenhead opens the pot for 220,000. Hinkle, on his immediate left, reraises to 600,000. Akenhead has no stomach for that raise and folds. Hinkle wins the pot.
