Chiu Loses Blind War

In a battle of the blinds on a flop of {10-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} the player in the small blind pushed his last 1,750 chips into the pot. David Chiu made the call in the big blind and tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} to hold the lead against his opponent's {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Needing to dodge a club and a four, Chiu watched and the {K-Spades} hit the turn before the {7-Clubs} fell on the river to double up his opponent as Chiu slipped to around 3,900.

Black Almost Doubles Up

With 1,400 chips in the pot preflop, Andy Black checked a {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop and then called the all-in bet of his opponent for 3,400 chips. Black was ahead with {3-Spades}{4-Spades} against his opponent's {3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for Black, the turn and river came {3-Clubs} and {A-Diamonds} to make a 5-high straight for both players.

Black remains alive with 5,800 chips.

Friedman Doubles Up

With just under 1,700 in chips, Perry Friedman shoved all in from the big blind with pocket eights and was called by another player, who turned over {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}. The board helped his opponent none, letting Perry double up to just over 3,000.

Moshe Elezra Survives

Moshe Elezra, brother of Eli, has just doubled up his short stack. He pushed all in with Q-8 but was called by an opponent holding A-K. The board landed 10-Q-6-9-7 to make Elezra a straight to double to about 2,500 in chips.

Lawson Movin' on Up

A player in early position led out for 625 preflop when the player in the cutoff raised to 2,800. The action then moved to Ted Lawson, on the button, who moved all-in for 3,875. The early position player folded while the cutoff made the call and showed A-K. Lawson turned over pocket queens, which held up, doubling his chip stack up to 8,700.

Alaei Looking Dangerous

Daniel Alaei raised it up to 900 from the button and two early-position limpers made the call. The three took a flop of {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and the action checked to Alaei, who fired 1,300. One opponent made the call.

The turn arrived the {9-Hearts} and this time Alaei fired a bullet worth 4,000 into the middle, which was good to take down the pot.

Alaei is progressing well through this tournament and starting to look very dangerous with a healthy stack of around 18,000 in chips.

Traniello Likes New Table

Marco Traniello and his short stack had just been moved to a new table, but it didn't take him long to find his feet. In the first hand at his new table he found himself all in holding {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} against an opponent's {10-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. The board landed {9-Spades}{J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Traniello doubled up to around 3,000 chips just prior to the break.
