Gowen Wins Race

Clonie Gowen moved the last of her chips into the middle with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and found a caller who tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

In a classic race Gowen was happy to see another nine hit the flop when the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} as she doubles up to over 6,000 in chips.

Kirk Morrison Eliminated

It took just two back-to-back hands for Kirk Morrison to lose all his chips. In the first hand, Morrison took his {A-Spades}{3-Spades} up against the {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} of his opponent, and despite flopping a straight flush draw, came up short to lose about half his stack.

The very next hand, Morrison pushed all in for 1,225 from the button holding {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and got a reluctant call from the big blind, who showed {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The flop was disaster for Morrison, coming {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and neither the {10-Diamonds} turn or the {Q-Hearts} river were any help to him.

Perry Friedman Playing Power Poker

A middle-position player opened for a raise to 800 and Perry Friedman made the call from the button. The big blind called as well and they took a flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. The big blind checked and the raiser led out for 1,100. Friedman flat-called and the big blind passed. The {7-Spades} hit the turn and the raiser slowed down, this time checking. Friedman moved all in for approximately 4,800 and his opponent passed. Perry Friedman took down the pot and is now up to about 9,000 chips.

Stealing from the Rich

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein, sometimes dubbed "The Robin Hood of Poker," has been running over his table as of late. Playing a lot of hands, Greenstein has been aggressive, often raising or reraising his opponents to win pots preflop or on the flop. This strategy seems to be working well for him now, as he currently commands a stack of about 29,000.

Jesus Reckons

A player on the button made it 1,000 to go preflop and Chris Ferguson called from the small blind. With a flop of {J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} Ferguson checked and his opponent bet enough that it would put Ferguson all in for his remaining 3,780 if he were to call. Ferguson went into the tank, then decided to call and turned over {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. His opponent showed pocket tens and failed to improve, doubling Ferguson up to 10,000.

Tim West Eliminated

Tim West has just been eliminated after getting unlucky in two consecutive hands.

In the first hand West took {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} up against a short-stacked opponent holding {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, but the board ran out {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{2-Diamonds} to leave him crippled.

West then moved in with {A-Clubs}{6-Hearts} from the small blind and Daniel Alaei made the pot-committed call with {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts} from the big blind. The board landed {3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Alaei spiked a pair to send West to the rail.

Lawson Likes Fresh Breath

On a board of {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, both Ted Lawson and his opponent checked. The river brought the {9-Clubs} and after Lawson checked, his opponent put him all in for his remaining 5,000. Lawson decided to think about his decision before calling, and eventually a floor was called over to put the clock on him. During the clock, Lawson accidentally bumped a package of breath mints at his table, and decided to pop one before making a decision.

With just fifteen seconds left on the clock, Lawson decided to call and showed {Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a full house, nines full of fours, while his opponent mucked. After that fresh breath enhancement and double up, Lawson is up to 12,000 in chips.

David Pham Takes a Hit

David Pham raised from middle position and received two calls, one from a late-position player, and one from the small blind.

On a flop of {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, the small blind checked to Pham and he bet 3,000. The late-position player called and the small blind folded.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and it was checked around.

The river card brought the {4-Clubs}. Pham checked and his opponent bet 5,000. Pham tanked for about 2 minutes before calling. Pham's opponent showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for the nut flush. Pham held A-K.

After this hand Pham is down to 7,000 in chips.

A Frigid Flop For Eskimo Clark

We caught up to this hand on the flop. With just under 2,000 in the pot and the board showing {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Eskimo Clark checked to his lone opponent who moved all in for 7,425. Clark insta-called but what stunned to see his adversary table {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Clark, as though he were trying to illustrate the intensity of the cooler he'd just taken, slowly rolled over the {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Clark got no help on 4th or 5th street and was left with a mere 1,125.
