For Those Wondering...

The floor has said that because 378 players will be paid in today's event and the money bubble cannot be burst with only half the field in play, action today will continue until the same point as last night (approximately 16 minutes into Level 9) or until 175 players remain for a combined field of 399 -- whichever comes first.

Don't Race Within 30 Minutes of Eating

Mark Voss
Mark Voss
Just a few hands after dinner, Mark Vos has sent a player home on a full stomach.

With about 8,000 chips remaining, the player open-raised all in and was called by Vos, holding {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. The all-in opponent held {A-Spades}{J-Spades}, and the two were off to the races.

The community cards came out {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, and Vos has padded his stack to approximately 26,000.

Mortensen Crippled

From late position, Carlos Mortensen raised preflop to 1,800. The big blind reraised to 3,600; Mortensen made the call.

Before the dealer could get the flop down on the felt, the big blind declared that he was all in and pushed out his remaining 3,200. Mortensen only had 3,600 left in his own stack and called after seeing {J-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}. He showed {J-Spades}{6-Spades} for top pair; his opponent had aces. The {Q-Spades} on the turn gave Mortensen a better draw but the river bricked {3-Diamonds}.

Mortensen is currently on death watch with just 400 remaining.

Jesus Still Alive

We caught up with this hand when all the chips were already in the pot preflop.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, with about 13,000 in chips, was called all in by Gabe Costner. The two flipped up their hands, with Ferguson showing {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, and Costner holding {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and Jesus survived his all-in, doubling up to around 27,000.

Zolotow Out

Seated in the under-the-gun position, Steve Zolotow made his move, pushing in his remaining 12,000 and hoping for the best. Unfortunately, the worst happened. He was safe until it came back around to the small blind, who called instantly, tabling {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. Zolotow was in deep trouble with {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

The board came {2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}, failing to improve Zolotow, and dashing his chip stack all the way down to a mere 300.

It wasn't much longer before someone delivered the final blow, and Zolotow has been eliminated.

Another One for Ferguson

Chris Ferguson
Chris Ferguson
For the second time since the dinner break, Chris Ferguson got involved in a big pot before the flop, this time holding {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. His all-in opponent tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and Ferguson was in good shape to drag in another sizable amount of chips early in tonight's play.

The dealer dealt out {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and another player has been eliminated. Ferguson, meanwhile, is up to 40,000.

Traniello Lets One Go

Marco Traniello raised preflop from middle position to 1,600. When his opponent reraised him to 4,900, he folded. Despite this minor setback, Traniello has made impressive strides on his stack size since play resumed. He currently has approximately 15,000.

Sebok is Sick

Joe Sebok raised the pot under-the-gun, making it 1,200 to go. The lone call came from the player in the big blind, and the two were heads-up to the flop.

The first three cards off the deck were {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, the big blind checked, and Sebok continued out with another 1,200-chip bet. Sebok got shoved though, as the big blind check-raised him all in, having Sebok covered by just 600. Sebok made the call, and the hands were turned over, Sebok's {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} against his opponent's {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The turn and river failed to save Sebok, and he is crippled down to 600.

And in This Corner...

Blue #6 continues to be an interesting table, with Mark Vos, David Bach, Liz Lieu, and Isabelle Mercier all seated together. Mercier was absent for the first 40 minutes of Level 7 but has just returned. She seems more focused than she appeared prior to dinner, although clearly still not herself.

Just as Mercier returned, Vos raised from the cutoff to 1,800. Lieu reraised from the small blind for all of her chips - 7,800. Vos asked for a count, scrunched up his face and then reluctantly folded.

"Why couldn't it have been less?" he sighed.

Vos Does in Another

A short-stacked player pushed his final 3,800 into the pot preflop, but found trouble when Mark Vos called with {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}. The all-in player had Q-10 offsuit, and the board failed to help him dig out of the hole. It wasn't an enormous pot, but another player is gone, and Mark Vos has chipped up to 38,000.
