Scotty Chatting it up with the Dealer

The following was overheard at Scotty Nguyen's table. He was talking with the dealer between hands.

Nguyen: "Your name is June? Like the month?"

Dealer nods.

Nguyen: "This month your name is June. Next month it's something else, right, baby?"

Dealer nods.

Scotty is nursing a short stack right now. He is down to 425.

Licastro Knocked Back

Anthony Licastro has been steadily growing his stack throughout the first two levels of play.

With about 9,000 in front of him, Licastro raised from late position, making it 400 to go. The player behind him reraised to 1425, and Licastro shoved over the top. The other player made the call with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, and Licastro tabled two black cowboys, {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

He fell behind quickly, though, when the flop came out {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and he needed to hit his flush or the case king to win the pot, or two runners to chop with a straight. The board ran out {5-Diamonds}, {6-Hearts}, however, and Licastro lost more than half of his stack, down now to 3,500.

Andy Black: Alternative for Massage Therapy

A floor person just approached Andy Black and said, "They've asked in the back of the room if the Irish guy on 22 would keep it down." He winked at Black.

"Go away, asshole," Black responded. "I mean, thank you, sir."

The floor person grinned. "I'm just pointing out the excessive celebration rule."

"I understand. I'm just making up for the rest," Black countered. He raised his voice and shouted, "They're all dead! What, are we going to sit here and stare at each other for 10 hours? It's poker!"

"Eskimo" Clark Picks his Spot

Paul "Eskimo" Clark just took down a nice pot when his pocket tens held up against the {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} of his opponent. The money went in preflop, and when the board ran out 7-6-4-7-6, Clark's tens were best. He stacked up to approximately 5,000 and sent another player home in the process.

Eli Takes His Seat

Eli Elezra recently made his way to Blue #27 in the Amazon Room, sporting a bright yellow Full Tilt t-shirt. At first, it was unclear if he intended to play in today's event or not; he hovered over Seat 2 for about 15 minutes, chatting with players like Andy Black and giving poker tips to his massage therapist. Elezra did eventually take a seat and was given a full stack of 3,000 chips by the dealer.

Anna Wroblewski Eliminated

Anna Wroblewski pushed her short stack in from the button but received a call from an early-position limper, who flipped over pocket aces. Anna held pocket threes and was delighted to see the {3-Clubs} as the door card on the flop, but it was followed directly by the {A-Clubs} as the board ran out {3-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades} to send Anna to an early exit.

Scotty Nguyen Eliminated

Scotty Nguyen just departed from today's event. Prior to the start of the the hand, Nguyen looked at me and said, "I've got 30,000, baby. Make sure you get that right."

Nguyen was under the gun and limped in, saying, "There you go. Come get some of that." He then looked at me again and said, "Watch this. 30,000, baby." A late-position player, the button, and the small blind all limped in and saw the flop.

Nguyen checked the flop of {9-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. It was checked to the button, who bet 300. The small blind called and Nguyen called for his last 225. The late-position player folded. Nguyen said, "Pair the board, baby."

The turn of the {K-Hearts} was checked around. Nguyen commented, "It's going to be a short day today, baby."

The river fell the {9-Diamonds} and the small blind checked. The button then bet 500 and the small blind quickly called. The button showed {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a flush. The small blind folded and Nguyen got ready to muck his cards as well before showing A-A.

After the hand, several players came over to Nguyen, requesting autographs. He gladly obliged them.

Newhouse Takes a Hit

Sitting in the small blind, Mark Newhouse called a preflop raise to 250. On a three-way flop of {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}, Newhouse led out for 400. Action folded to the preflop raiser, who raised for all of his chips to 1,650. Newhouse called with queen-ten; his opponent showed kings. The turn and the river were blanks and the pot went to Newhouse's opponent.

As we approach the first break, Newhouse's stack is about 4900.
