The Three-Chip Rule?

A player under the gun raised and Bill Edler reraised to 225 from middle position. The player next to him threw out three 100 chips without saying anything. Was that a raise or a call? He had intended to raise, but several players wanted it to be a call. The floor was called over, and it was ruled a raise to 300. The complaining continued, but the ruling stood. The UTG player called and Edler called.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and the UTG checked. Edler bet and the silent raiser called.

The turn was {2-Hearts}. UTG checked. Edler bet and the silent raiser called. The UTG folded.

The river was {J-Diamonds} and Edler bet again. The silent raiser called and showed {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Edler was left with 175.

Just before the break, Edler doubled up and then tripled up to 1,100 in chips.
