Fighting His Way Back

Howard Lederer
Howard Lederer
After doubling up Minh Ly and moving himself to the very edge of the abyss, Howard Lederer has come clawing back. He won two uncontested pots very shortly after that to work back up to around 40,000. Just a moment ago, he and Minh Ly hooked up for Round Two.

Action was folded all the way around the table to the small blind, and Minh Ly pushed at Howard, raising to 18,000. Lederer smooth-called, saying, "This is my spot." The flop came out {A-Spades} {J-Hearts} {6-Spades}. Ly checked it over, and Lederer wasted no time moving all in for his remaining 24,000, enough to push Ly out. That pot chipped The Professor up further, close to 60,000.

On the very next hand, John-Paul Kelly opened from middle position for 16,000, and it came back to Lederer in the small blind. He pushed it, moving all in for 54,000. Kelly ducked out, and Lederer has now won more pots in the past five minutes than he has won in perhaps the two or three hours prior. He has climbed back to 82,000, after being severly in danger with 14,000 just moments ago.
