Hourani Doubles Through Gerasimov

Adam Hourani raised to 80,000 from the cutoff, and after a couple of minutes, Kirill Gerasimov (in the big blind) counted out 225,000 in chips and pushed them forward.

Hourani sat back in his chair. To call would mean committing a third of his stack here before the flop. Finally, after a minute or so, he made the call.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. Gerasimov appeared to shake his head, grimacing slightly. He took off his sunglasses, then bet the pot. Hourani called.

Gerasimov: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Hourani: {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

Hourani was well ahead with his set of kings and flush draw. The turn was the {2-Spades} and the river the {6-Hearts}, and Hourani doubled up to 1,245,000. Meanwhile, Gerasimov is now the short stack with just 105,000.

Cause for Excitement

David Benyamine
David Benyamine
David Benyamine limped from under the gun, Adam Hourani completed from the small blind, and Johnny Chan checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}. It checked to Benyamine who bet 65,000. Hourani folded, and Chan check-raised to 265,000. He'd done that before to Benyamine. This time Benyamine made the call.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}. Chan quickly bet pot. Benyamine quickly called.

Chan turned over {7-?}{5-?}{4-?}{4-?} for the straight and trip fours. Benyamine showed {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-?}{3-?} for trip sixes and the diamond draw.

"Diamond or pair the board!" came the cry from Benyamine's cheering section.

The river brought the {5-Spades}, and Benyamine took the pot with sixes full of fives. He's now up to 1.5 million, while Chan has slipped back to 1.12 million.

"Now I'm gonna get a little excited!" said Benyamine to his supporters.

Johnny Doesn't Bite

Johnny Chan limped from the cutoff, and Phil Galfond checked in the big blind.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Galfond checked, Chan quickly bet 60,000, and Galfond made the call.

The turn was the {A-Spades}. Both checked.

The river was the {4-Clubs}. Galfond checked, and Chan thought a moment before checking behind. Galfond showed A-10-5-2 for a six-high straight, and Chan mucked.
