Tardy WSOP Champs

The first hand of Level 20 is being dealt without Johnny Chan or Phil Hellmuth in their seats.

Whoops, there's Hellmuth . . . just in time to play his cards.

Level: 20

Blinds: 10,000/20,000

Ante: 0

You Must Play the Cards You're Dealt

Phil Galfond raised to 45,000, and Negreanu called from the button. Brian Rast then raised pot from the small blind to 204,000. Adam Hourani folded in the big blind.

Galfond thought for a bit and folded. Negreanu then took a moment to decide as well. "If I could change one of these cards," he said. He finally folded.

Phil Hellmuth Doubles Through Brian Rast

Brian Rast raised to 34,000, Hellmuth moved all in for his remaining 66,000 and Rast called.

Rast: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds}

Hellmuth: {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs}

Before the flop came down, Hellmuth crossed the table to shake his nemesis' hand and put on his leather jacket. The flop was {J-Spades}{8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}, no help for Hellmuth. The turn, though, was the {K-Spades}, making Hellmuth kings full of eights. The river was the {J-Diamonds} and Hellmuth doubled up.

And the jacket comes back off as the Poker Brat retakes his seat...

Hellmuth vs. Rast Gab-Fest Continues

Brian Rast opened for 44,000 and Phil Hellmuth called from the small blind. The flop was {A-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {4-Hearts} . Hellmuth checked, Rast bet 40,000, Hellmuth hemmed and hawed and gave some sort of speech before mucking {K-?} {Q-?} {J-?} {10-?} face-up. Rast won the pot.

Hellmuth then proceeded to berate Rast for how he played as the dealer pitched out the next hand.

Caution the Better Part of Valor

Kirill Gerasimov raised to 48,000 from early position, Brian Rast called from the hijack seat, and John Juanda called from the small blind.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Juanda checked, and Gerasimov bet 150,000. Rast sat motionless for thirty seconds, then after fiddling with his chips folded. Juanda also folded, and Gerasimov took the pot.

The Last Three Hands

Daniel Negreanu raised to 45,000 and won the blinds.

Phil Hellmuth raised to 48,000, David Benyamine reraised pot to 168,000, Hellmuth folded and Benyamine took it down.

Phil Hellmuth limped in, Brian Rast limped, Johnny Chan limped from the small blind and John Juanda checked his option. The flop was {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {6-Spades}. The action was checked to Rast who bet 47,000. Everyone folded and Rast won the pot.
