Benyamine Business

David Benyamine
David Benyamine
David Benyamine just knocked out another player. Benyamine had flopped the nut straight, then when the turn brought a second spade his opponent pushed all in with A-A-x-x and two spades. The flush didn't come, and Benyamine is way up to 357,000.

Straight Through the Backdoor

John Juanda
John Juanda
On a flop of {4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, John Juanda bet 5,000, Jason Mercier raised to 16,000, and Juanda called. The turn brought the {2-Clubs}. Juanda checked, Mercier bet 36,000, and Juanda made the call.

When the {3-Spades} appeared on the river, Juanda bet 37,500 and Mercier made the call.

Juanda showed {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. He'd been gunning for the nut flush, but backdoored a wheel. Mercier showed two nines for a set.

Juanda now has 170,000, and Mercier 70,000.

Minieri Out; Dwan Surging

Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan
Soon after busting Ivey, Dwan's table broke and he found himself at a new table with Dario Minieri. Pretty soon the two of them found themselves involved in another large pot.

On a flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, Dwan led out with a pot-sized bet, Minieri re-potted, Dwan responded in kind, and Minieri called with the rest of his chips.

Minieri had {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{J-Spades} for the made straight. Dwan had {J-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{A-Spades} for a lesser straight.

However, the turn {5-Spades} and river {8-Spades} gave Dwan the backdoor nut flush, and Minieri was out. Dwan is now up to 200,000.

Ivey's Dwan Song

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey
We picked this one up on a flop of {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Phil Ivey checked from middle position, Tom "durrr" Dwan bet 4,700 behind, Ivey check-raised all in for 30,000, and Dwan made the call.

Ivey: {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}
Dwan: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{A-Spades}

Ivey had several outs to the straight and a small flush draw, while Dwan had the better club draw.

The turn and river brought more clubs -- {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs} -- and Ivey is out. Dwan has about 139,000.

David Benyamine Wins Big Pot

David Benyamine
David Benyamine
David Benyamine has just approached the top of chip counts after winning a monster three-way pot.

An unknown player limped under the gun, and David Benyamine raised it up to 3,500. From the big blind, Andy Black made the call. The unknown player then reraised to 10,900. Benyamine made the call, but both players were shocked to see Black raise it to 43,000! The unknown player called all in for his remaining chips, and Benyamine called as well.

The flop came: {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs}

Andy Black pushed all in, and was quickly called by David Benyamine.

Black: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}-Xc for the overpair of aces and the flush draw
Benyamine: {10-Spades}{8-Hearts} {9-Hearts}{7-Spades} for the flopped straight
Opponent: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}-X-X

The {7-Diamonds} turn and {K-Hearts} river did not help Black or the unknown player, who was eliminated.

When all was said and done, Benyamine was up to 232,000 while Black fell to 77,000.

Emmanuel's the Man

Emmanuel Sebag just won one of the larger pots of the tourney thus far. After several preflop raises and reraises had built the pot up to around 100,000, the flop came {3-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Sebag, who held K-K-x-x, got his opponent, who held A-A-x-x, to commit the rest of his chips.

Sebag's set of kings held up, and he is now right at 400,000.
