Rollercoaster for Tahtouh

Emad Tahtouh has become the latest player to have their aces cracked today. He raised UTG with {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} , and it folded around to the small blind who raised all in for 17,000. Call.

Under the gun: {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

Board: {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} {K-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Tahtouh dropped right down to 3,400.

He made a bit of a comeback, tripling up to around 12,000 with {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} on a {7-Clubs} {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {A-Spades} board, but then got it all in with {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} against {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} -- the board came down {Q-Spades} {A-Spades} {7-Spades} {9-Spades} {3-Clubs}, and he was no more.

Foltyn Falters

Paul 'Pab' Foltyn is down to 37,000. When I joined the hand, Foltyn was facing a bet of 19,000 on a {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{K-Hearts} board. He eventually folded, adding "Tell them I folded middle set". I'm not sure I should publish fibs though.

Frantic Pace Continues

With 138 left and two and half hours remaining, this could easily be yet another event that makes it into the money within the opening day. Maybe it's the fact that we're six handed rather than ten, or perhaps there's simply something in the water, but the pace here today has been frantic with exits galore.

Another Victim Walks The Plank

Italian Pirate
Italian Pirate
Max Pescatori has leapt up to 77,400 after giving another man an early bath. With his opponent raising to 2,200 under-the-gun, Pescatori made it 75,000 to play. His foe called.

Then, on the {3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop, UTG bet out, Pescatori raised, UTG pushed all in and Pescatori called.

Pescatori {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}
UTG = {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

board = {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

A cold deck that would shiver the timbers of even the most fearsome of pirates.

Minieri Shoots Down the Bullets

Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri
Dario Minieri's stack continues to ascend northwards, his latest victim seeing his pocket rockets destroyed by Minieri's pocket sevens on a 4-Q-7-8-5 rainbow board.

Minieri can barely get his arms around his chips now and has requested another rack.

Aces in the Air Tonight

A player in mid position raised to 2,000, only for Phil Collins to make it 5,200 in the small blind. The big blind went all in, the original raiser folded, and Collins called.

Big blind: {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}
Colins: {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}

Board: {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {3-Spades}

The big blind is gone, and Collins is on 62,000.

Bruno Trips Up

No, dynamic Frenchman Bruno Fitoussi hasn't hit the deck, but rather hit trips to take down a lucrative pot. Preflop, Bruno reraised an opponent's raise of 2,000 to 5,000, leading to both players seeing a{J-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop.

The flop, along with the {9-Diamonds} turn, were both checked down until Fitoussi reraised his opponent's 6,000 bet on the {7-Hearts} river to 15,000. Although perplexed, his opponent made the call, but angrily mucked as last year's HORSE runner up revealed {A-Spades}{7-Spades} for trip sevens.

Filtz Forces a Fold from Kenna

Justin Filtz raised it up to 2,400 UTG, and Kenna James reraised to 6,500 from the button. Call.

Flop: {6-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} and Filtz checked. James bet 7,000, and Filtz called.

They both checked the {2-Spades} turn, and James laid it down when Filtz bet out 13,500 on the {5-Diamonds} river.

James now down to 32,000, while Filtz climbs to 96,000.
