Pescatori Makes Opponent Walk the Plank

Max Pescatori is steaming ahead on 11,500. Most recently, he bet 1,100 on an {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {10-Spades} flop, and called the big blind's all in check-raise for more than 2,000. The big blind was holding {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for top pair, but Pescatori was holding {10-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} for two pair, and the {2-Spades} turn and {9-Spades} river changed nothing.

Book Club

After adding another bracelet to an already sparkling wrist, many people (well, just me really) were wondering what Barry does with his book if he actually wins the event. Surely, he can't give it to himself, can he?

"It varies," explained Barry. "Last night I gave it to the Tournament Director because he seemed like a nice guy, but after the WPT event I won I gave it to Steve Lipscomb because I called a big bluff from him when we were both big chip leaders. Another tournament I gave it to the guy I put the worst beat on."

Come on, Barry, what do us bloggers have to do to get our dirty mitts on one of those books? It seems like every man and his dog has a copy except me.

Good Call for Winston

Roy Winston has made an excellent call to eliminate an opponent and propel his stack up to 9,000. The opponent reraised all in on a {2-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} flop, and Winston called with {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} -- his opponent was holding {A-Hearts} {7-Spades} and is no more.

Mimi Eliminated

Also among our early casualties is Mimi Tran. She found herself short and pushed with pocket deuces, but was called by a gentleman holding {A-?} {K-Hearts} -- four hearts on the board later, and the rest of the day's her own.
