The Phil Hellmuth Update

Like a Rock
Like a Rock
"Hey press!" said Phil Hellmuth, waving over one of our reporters. Apparently he had a message to deliver.

"When I didn't get any hands for 6 hours, I still survived. I sat like a rock while others stumbled and falled (that's his English usage, not ours BTW). I'll wait for them to make mistakes."

And there you have it.

Carlton Eliminates Nikaj, Moves Into Chip Lead

Glyn Banks raised to 8,500 from UTG, Donny Carlton called from middle position, Anton Nikaj moved all in from the big blind for 24,000, Banks folded and Carlton snap-called.

Nikaj {A-Spades} {10-Hearts}

Carlton {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs} {6-Spades} {3-Hearts} {9-Spades} {2-Clubs} and Carlton's aces held up to eliminate Nikaj.

After the hand, Carlton was up to 260,000 and is the current chip leader.

Ben Alcober Eliminated

Ben Alcober's final table dreams were just cut short courtesty of Jonathan Jaffe. A short-stacked Alcober made his stand with a {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} but got outrun by Jaffe's {J-Spades} {10-Hearts} on the {10-Spades} {4-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} board.

George Waller Eliminated

George Waller joined the ever-growing list of players to go home when he got his last 20,800 chips in the middle holding {J-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} against the {K-Spades} {K-Clubs} of Sean Carlson. Waller missed the board completely and set sail whereas Carlson took his chip count up to just shy of 85,000.

Sarah Lee Eliminated

Sarah Lee raised to 12,000, Richard Toth put in a reraise to 40,000, Lee moved all in for about 80,000 and Toth called.

Lee {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

Toth {J-Spades} {J-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {4-Diamonds} and Lee was eliminated. After the hand, Toth was up to 187,000.

Robert Jarman Doubles Through Steve Guillot

Frank Byrne raised to 8,000, Robert Jarman called from the small blind, Steve Guillot moved all in for over 70,000 from the big blind, Byrne tanked and then folded and Jarman called.

Jarman {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

Guillot {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

The flop was {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} {6-Clubs}, much to Frank Byrne's dismay, as he told the table aloud that he'd folded {A-?} {10-?} . The turn was the {10-Clubs}, the river was the {3-Spades} and Jarman took it down, increasing his stack to 90,000. Guillot was left with 35,000.

Dean Bui Cracks Banducci's Rockets

Michael Banducci raised to 7,500 before the flop and got a call from Dean Bui. The flop came down {10-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}.

Banducci fired out 11,500 and Bui made the call. The turn brought the {Q-Diamonds}. Banducci checked this time, and Bui pushed out 15,500. Banducci made the call. The river fell the {3-Hearts} and Banducci rapped the felt again. Bui counted out 31,000 and pushed it out. Banducci made the call.

Banducci showed {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} but Bui tabled {K-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} for the nut straight. After the hand, Bui is up to 195,000 while Banducci slips to 75,000.
