Chop at the Table of Death

Sabyl Cohen-Landrum and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson recently chopped a pot in a heads-up showdown. Jesus completed the bring-in, and Cohen-Landrum made the call.

Ferguson: ({2-Spades} {4-Hearts}) {A-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {A-Spades} ({Q-Diamonds})
Cohen-Landrum: ({10-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}) {2-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {10-Clubs} ({8-Hearts})

Cohen-Landrum bet the whole way before check-calling a seventh street bet from Jesus. When the hands were turned up, Cohen-Landrum held the high with tens up, and Ferguson took the low with an eight-six.

The Battle of Ponytails

Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson just got moved to a table with Annie Duke, and it wasn't long before they got tangled up in a pot. With the {A-Diamonds} showing, Annie raised the bring-in. Brunson and a player in seat four called.

Brunson: ({4-Diamonds} {5-Spades}) {7-Clubs} {2-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Hearts} ({9-Diamonds})
Seat 4: (X) (X) {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {J-Spades} (X)
Duke: (X) (X) {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {6-Spades} (X)

On fourth street, Annie Duke bet out, and both opponents called. She bet again on fifth, but Brunson raised, having made his seven-five low. Seat four and Duke both called. When Annie hit her black six on sixth street, she again led out, and did so again on seventh. Brunson showed the winning hand though, a pair of nines with that seven-five low.

Doyle and Clements Take it to the Chop Shop

Doyle Bruson: (X) (X) {4-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {7-Spades} (X)
Gary Benson: (X) (X) {9-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Scott Clements: (X) (X) {8-Spades} {2-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} (X)

Doyle brought in and both Benson and Clements called. On fourth street, Clements checked, Doyle bet, Benson called, then Clements raised. Both Brunson and Benson called.

Doyle led again on fifth street and both players called. On sixth street, Benson folded after Doyle and Clements got into a raising war back and forth. Then on the last card, Clements bet and Doyle just called.

Brunson: ({A-Clubs}) ({9-Diamonds}) ({5-Spades}) {4-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {7-Spades}
Clements: ({A-Diamonds}) ({8-Diamonds}) ({2-Clubs}) {8-Spades} {2-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}

Clements' full house was good enough for the high while Brunson's seven-five low took the low half of the pot.

Clements now has 11,800, Benson 14,000, and Doyle 14,500.

Karas Out at Ivey's Hands

A short-stacked Archie Karas was knocked out when his two pair, aces and eights failed to get past Phil Ivey's seven-high straight. Karas is headed to the rail, while Ivey remains in short-stack territory at about 4,000.

Action Aplenty

Heads-up, and building a big pot, we look in on Berry Johnston and Shawn Sheikhan. Sheiky completes the bring-in showing the {5-Clubs} , and then calls a raise from Johnston, who has the {10-Clubs} in the door.

On fourth street, Johnston bets his {6-Spades}, and Sheikhan calls with his {6-Diamonds}.

Fifth street is the {Q-Hearts} for Johnston, and he bets out. Sheikhan hits a {2-Hearts}, but he comes back with a raise.

On sixth street, Johnston draws the {Q-Diamonds}, and he calls a bet from Sheiky, looking at the {8-Clubs}.

The fire comes on seventh street. After the players are dealt their last card, action is capped at four bets with both players putting in the maximum. The hands are turned over:

Johnston: ({K-?} {K-?}) {10-Clubs} {6-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} ({K-?})
Sheikhan: ({5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}) {5-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {8-Clubs} ({5-Spades})

Both players nailed seventh street. Johnston picked up kings full of queens, but it was second bets to Sheiky's quad fives. After the dust settled, Berry Johnston was knocked down to 6,300. Shawn Sheikhan, meanwhile, has climbed near the top of the leader board with 20,500.
