The Ultimate Bad Beat

During break, a lot of players could be seen huddled around the television monitors to watch the game. At one of the screens sat Scott Clements, Huckleberry Seed, Mel Judah, and Steve Zolotow among others. All was good until a technician came over and abruptly switched the channel to a tournament clock.

"Well that's just wrong!" announced one of the players.

Another player yelled out, "The ultimate bad beat!" before they headed back to their seats.

Seat 5: Sabyl Cohen-Landrum
Seat 7: Todd Brunson
Seat 8: Chris "Jesus" Ferguson

Wattel Works Both Sides

Mike Wattel brought it in raising with the {A-Clubs} showing, and he got two takers, including James Van Alstyne. Wattel bet it the whole way, and got called each time by both players. Van Alstyne took one bet off when he folded on seventh street.

Seat 1: (X) (X) {J-Spades} {8-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {9-Hearts} (X)
Van Alstyne: (X) (X) {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} (X)
Wattel: {A-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {A-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {7-Hearts}

Mike Wattel took both halves of the pot, aces up for the high and a seven low on the other side.

A Stunning Hand for Edler

Chris Reslock: (X) (X) {6-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Bill Edler: (X) (X) {A-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} (X)
Daid Levi: (X) (X) {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} (X)

Reslock folded on fourth street after Edler led out with a bet. Levi called. Both Edler and Levi checked fifth. On sixth, Levi check-called a bet from Edler and did the same on seventh.

Edler turned over {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades} {A-Hearts} for a pair of kings and a seven-five low. Levi mucked his hand and Edler scooped the entire pot with a smile.

Cohen-Landrum Gets to Work

Sabyl Cohen-Landrum and Todd Brunson just got together in a heads-up pot to showdown. Brunson completed the bet, showing {A-Diamonds}, and Cohen-Landrum makes the call with her {3-Clubs}.

Cohen-Landrum: (X) (X) {3-Clubs} {8-Spades} {3-Spades} {K-Spades} (X)
Brunson: (X) (X) {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {2-Spades} (X)

Cohen-Landrum check-called on fourth street, and then called all the way through sixth street. On seventh street, Brunson called a bet, and Cohen-Landrum turned over {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {3-Diamonds} in the hole, giving her threes full of queens and shipping her a nice pot. She has chipped up to 12,500 quickly after her late entry.

Raymer and Arieh Chop One Out

Josh Arieh and Greg Raymer are seated together, and they just teamed up to knock out a player. Here are the winning cards that played:

Arieh: {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Spades} {3-Clubs}
Raymer: {7-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {A-Hearts}

Their third opponent in the pot had a Broadway straight, but it wasn't good enough, and he sends half his chips to Arieh and Raymer each.

Tom Schneider Eliminated

Tom Schneider couldn't get much going today. On fourth street, Schneider was all in with his small stack.

Schneider: ({6-Hearts}) ({6-Diamonds}) {Q-Hearts} {4-Spades} {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}
Opponent: ({7-Clubs}) ({7-Diamonds}) {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {2-Spades}

Schneider's opponent made a flush and Schneider couldn't pull out a full house or a low to win or chop the pot. He was eliminated from today's tournament.
