Griffin Takes a Tumble

Gavin Griffin raised to 3,500 from under the gun, a late-position player reraised to 12,300, and Griffin called.

Griffin checked the {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop, and the late-position player pushed the rest of his 13,000 chips forward. Griffin called, showing {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. His opponent held {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. The turn and river didn't help Griffin, and he was down a little to 128,000.

Soon after, Griffin found himself in a raising war with Jerrod Ankenman on a board of {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. The river brought the {9-Clubs} and Ankenman pushed his last 53,000 all in.

"God, you didn't go runner-runner on me," said Griffin before making the call. He didn't -- he had 5-5-x-x for quad fives. Griffin mucked in disgust.

Griffin is suddenly down to 38,000. Ankenman has 198,500.
