Double Up for Pab

Speaking of coolers, this one could have taken place at the North Pole, online pro Paul 'Pab' Foltyn now riding high after triumphing in a set over set encounter.

With all the chips flying in on a turn of a {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board, Paul Foltyn held {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} against his unfortunate opponent's {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Foltyn now on 13,400 and one of the early pace-setters.

Drama for Filippi

Amnon Filippi was all in a few moments ago with nines versus eights, and although an eight on the flop appeared to deal a crushing blow, running cards for the rivered straight saved his bacon and kept him alive.

Filippi now on 5,600.

Jennifer Tilly Eliminated

All in with {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} against the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} of Lex Veldhuis, the stunningly beautiful Jennifer TIlly received no help on an {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades} board and was sent to the rail. Not to worry though, Tilly has been a prominent presence during this Series, so we're bound to see her again soon.

Rice is Fried

Raymond Travis Rice is the latest casualty on the floor of the Amazon Room.

Also gone in recent minutes are Jason Potter and Scott Clements, the latter getting it all in preflop with A-4 against Josh Tieman's A-J.

Jaffray Has Aces Cracked

Alan Jaffray had an excellent start to the day, but suffered a slight setback when he became the latest player to have his aces cracked -- he doubled up a short stack whose Q-9 hit two pair on the river. He's now on a still very comfortable 7,000.

Perry Friedman Eliminated

Somehow crippled to just 150 in chips, Perry Friedman found himself all in on the big blind with {Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Although it looked bleak with multiple opponents, second pair was enough on an {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board to see the 2002 bracelet winner more than treble up to the 500 mark.

However, the resurgence didn't last long, Friedman soon all in again (this time for 350) with {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} versus {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. No help on a four-less {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} board, and he was dust.

Lee Watkinson Surges Ahead

Currently contending for the chip lead is one Lee Watkinson. Raising it up to 400 preflop, Watkinson received three callers who all saw a {5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{Q-Spades} flop. After Watkinson's bet of 1,500 was called in one spot, he then pushed all in for 4,600 on the {9-Hearts} turn and again was called.

With Watkinson flipping {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} for the overpair, his opponent could only muster {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, which failed to improve on the {3-Spades} river.

Watkinson now on over 11,000 in chips.
