Filippi Takes an Early Hit

Amnon Filippi took his seat a few minutes after the official start and managed to get himself involved in a big pot on the first hand he played:

Action was folded around to the cutoff who made it 175 to go. Filippi then re-popped it to 450 and the cutoff made the call.

The flop came {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} and Filippi led out with an 800 bet which was called by his lone opponent.

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} and this time Filippi passed the first action to his new nemesis, who fired a 1,000 bullet. Amnon called.

The last card off the deck was the {2-Spades} and the river action mirrored the turn: check, bet 1,000, call.

At the showdown, the cutoff tabled {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}, good for the second nuts and Filippi flashed the {A-Spades} before tossing his cards into the muck, 3,250 chips poorer.
