Barberic Play

Al Barbieri is off to a rough start - he tells us that in the very first hand of the tournament, in hold'em, he raised on the button with {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, and the big blind called. The flop was {4-?}{4-?}{2-?}, and Barbieri ended up losing a third of his stack to his opponent's {2-?}{2-?} on that hand alone.

Gobbo Confused

Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke, fresh from busting out of Event #50, Pot-Limit Omaha, is staring at his seat card and wandering around the orange section, looking totally confused. Finally, a staff member leads him to a table with a player already present in that seat. The staff member points up at the table and the player is obviously sitting in the wrong place. That player racks up his chips and leaves for parts unknown.

Fricke is now being seated in his correct, and pre-warmed, chair.

No Mercy!

Stud:

A player brings it in with {2-Diamonds}. Another player calls with the {A-Hearts} and Isabelle "No Mercy" Mercier raises with {Q-Spades}. Both call.

On fourth, the second player gets an {A-Spades} and decides to double-bet his pair. Isabelle raises anyway with her pair, {Q-Hearts}, and the bring-in folds his {10-Clubs}.

On fifth, the opponent bets his {J-Diamonds} and Isabelle calls {6-Spades}.

On sixth, the opponent bets {2-Clubs} and Isabelle calls {4-Clubs}.

On seventh, both check.

Isabelle: ({Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}){Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Opponent: x-x / {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} (muck)

Isabelle takes the pot and is up to 4,800.

Pizza, Pasta and Scoop

Stud-8:

Chuck Barker brings it in with the {5-Hearts} and Vince Burgio, author of "Pizza, Pasta and Poker," raises with the {7-Clubs}. Barker calls.

On fourth, Burgio bets {A-Spades} and Barker calls {4-Hearts}.

On fifth, Burgio checks {3-Diamonds} and Barker checks {7-Diamonds}.

On sixth, Burgio checks {8-Diamonds} and Barker bets {A-Diamonds}. Burgio calls.

On seventh, Burgio checks and Barker bets. Burgio calls.

Burgio: {7-Clubs}{A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Barker: {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Barker scoops the pot and Burgio is down to 2,600.

Chip Counts Updated

Early in the event, Isabelle Mercier has picked up a few nice pots and is sitting on 4,800. Sam Simon of Simpsons fame has 4,200 and CK Hua and David Benyamine both have 4,000.

Floor!

There's a controversy on Blue 35. A player claimed the low in a Stud-8 pot and the dealer split the pot and pushed him half the chips - but he didn't actually have the low. The floor was called and the pot was reconstructed.

Scoop for Sexton

Stud-8:

Picking it up on fourth street, Keith Sexton bets and his opponent calls all the way down.

Seat 4: x-x / {K-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Keith Sexton: x-x / {5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

Sexton turns over {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and scoops. He's up to 4,500.
