Event #51: $1,500 HORSE, End of Day 1

A massive 803 players entered the $1,500 HORSE event, making it one of the largest mixed-game tournaments in history, possibly the largest. The 3,000 starting chips and the slimmer early structure (changed this year in favor of more players later in the day) ensured that these players wound not last long.

And bust out they did, as hundreds of players exited play in the first few levels despite the limit format and the split nature of two of the five games.

Several players interested in shoring up their placements in the Milwaukee's Best Light WSOP Player of the Year standings entered this event. Among the top points-earners, only David Benyamine and Mike Matusow remain standing. Due to Barry Greenstein and Erik Seidel earning points at today's $50,000 HORSE final table, Benyamine will have his work cut out for him tomorrow to make a comeback and win the honor.

One hundred eighty-four players are left in this event, and all these runners return Monday at 3 p.m. Pacific time. They plan to play all the way down to 8, but it may get cut off earlier than that, depending on how things go. Either way, see you right here at 3!
