$10,000 Mixed Championship Event - Day 2

Welcome back to day 2 of the $10,000 mixed event, the chameleon-like tournament that is always a-moving and a-changing. 126 players are left here in the Miranda room and the plan is to try and play down to the final table, though whether that will happen remains to be seen.

We've just had an announcement that cards will be in the air in around 5 minutes at 2:10pm.

Level: 9

Blinds: 0/0

Ante: 0

First Game: Stud

The tournament staff just drew a game placard to determine which poker variant we'd lead off with today, as virtually every table finished on a different game. Stud will be first, followed eight hands later by stud 8 or better.

Thor Hansen Doubles

Stud:

Thor Hansen came into Day 2 with only 2,400 in chips but managed to double up on one of the first hands. All in on third street against Erick Lindgren, Hansen's pair of sixes beat out Lindgren's pair of fours to take his stack up to 6,200.

Jurgens Bests Elezra

Stud:

Eli Elezra (X) (X) {9-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} (X)
Tad Jurgens (X) (X) {2-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} (X)

There was 15,000 in the pot when was caught this hand on sixth street, Elezra betting out and Jurgens making the call. Elezra bet out blind on seventh street, without looking at his down card and Jurgens made the call.

Jurgens showed {K-Spades} {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} in the hole for kings up, besting Elezra's sevens and threes with {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts}. Jurgens is now up to 57,000 while Elezra is on 28,000.

Danzer Exiled?

Stud:

Germans Jan Heitmann and Benjamin Kang have been sweating some of their compatriots, Katja Thater, Sebastian Ruthenberg and George Danzer.

Kang, "If George doesn't win this, we're kicking him out of the house."

Heitmann, "Yes, he'll have to sleep in the car."

As they were talking, Danzer bet on the 7th street against Esther Taylor.

Danzer: {6-Hearts} {2-Spades} {J-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}
Taylor: {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {9-Clubs}

After some thinking, Taylor made the call and Danzer showed {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} for Queens, but Taylor had pipped him on 7th with {10-?} {8-?} {8-?} for two pair.

Miffed Griff

Stud:

Chau Giang raised and Gavin Griffin made the call on the third with their boards coming out as follows.

Giang: {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}
Griffin: {9-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

On fourth street Giang check-called Griffin's bet with the same pattern occuring on fifth and sixth street. On 7th, Griffin checked and Giang bet, Griffin made the call and Giang showed {A-?} {A-?} {8-?} for aces up, Griffin mucked.

Griffin dropped to 9,000 while Giang went up to 35,000. Soon after, the world's only live triple crown winner was knocked out when Doyle Brunson knocked him out having made sevens and threes. Brunson is up to 95,000.
