Smith Needs a Boost

On a turn board showing {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} {8-Clubs}, Justin Smith and Phil Ivey checked, and Pat Pezzin fired a bet. Smith check-raised, Ivey reraised, Pezzin folded, and Smith made the call.

The river card brought the {3-Spades}. Smith checked, and Ivey put out a bet that covered his opponent. Smith had little choice, flicking his last couple chips into the pot. Ivey tabled {2-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades}, his nut low plenty good to take half of the pot. And as Smith mucked his hand, it was clear that Ivey's eights full had earned him the scoop and the knockout.

With that, Justin "Boosted J" Smith becomes our 28th-place finisher, and the remaining field has been re-drawn down to three tables.
