Climbing the Wahlbeck

Ville Wahlbeck opened with a raise in late position, and Pat Pezzin three-bet from the cutoff seat. In the small blind, John Monnette made the overcall, and Wahlbeck put in the third bet as well.

The flop came {J-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}. Monnette led out with a bet, and Wahlbeck called. Pezzin wanted to play for more though, raising the table. Both opponents called.

The turn card revealed the {4-Clubs}. Monnette checked this time, and Wahlbeck grabbed the betting lead, firing 24,000 chips at the pot. Pezzin raised again, and both opponents called once more. The last card off the deck was the {2-Clubs}. When Monnette checked, Wahlbeck fired again; both Pezzin and Monnette flat-called this time.

Showdown
Wahlbeck: {A-Spades} {3-Spades} {5-Spades} {8-Clubs}
Pezzin: {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}
Monnette: {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Making the straight on top and the nut low, Ville Wahlbeck scooped up the pot. After dragging in a huge pile of chips, Wahlbeck is up to 425,000.
