Day 2 Concludes

We've reached the 3:00am cutoff time, and play has concluded for the night. Play began some 13 hours ago with 129 players still within arm's reach of a bracelet, and that field has been narrowed all the way down to 17 as things wrapped up. Chris Bjorin came into Day 2 with the chip lead, and he would ride that stack deep into the night. His effort would fall just short of a payday though, bubbling out in a disappointing 19th place.

The new honor of overnight chip leader will go to John Monnette. After a monstrous surge late in the day, he crammed 1,141,000 chips into the barely-big-enough thick plastic bag. Monnette has one final table under his belt already at this WSOP, and now he has his sights firmly set on another tomorrow.

Play will resume earlier than expected, at high noon tomorrow. The players seemed to want to argue the start time, but the tired eyes and weary legs pacified them enough to go along with the tournament staff. Once more, we'd like to sincerely apologize for our technical difficulties for the last few levels of play. The situation is beyond our control, and Harrah's assures us that the problem is being sorted out overnight. We'll see you at noon tomorrow!
